About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring Amsterdam.

ABOUT ME

I'm Marco, grew up in the beautiful North of the NL, but recently moved to Amsterdam. After living for 5 months in Mumbai it can't be that hard right?

So I'm still in the process of exploring this new city and see couchsurfing as an interesting way to speed up the process.

One of my favorite things to do in life is meeting fellow travellers, seeing most of them tend to be very cool people.

Plans I have in abundance, but I'm an excellent procrastinator and end up just chilling in the park in every country I visit a lot...

I love to hang out with friends, swim in rivers/lakes when the weather is nice, do some sports (squash/sportsclimbing) and for the rest I'm into some stuff that concerns the internet.

This is a bit lacking description of my total self, but feel free to meet up with me wherever I am and I'm sure I can tell you some more interesting stuff about myself in person!

PHILOSOPHY

I'm still working on a personal philosophy. Just give me time. Sit back and relax.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Bringing some Frisian culture and awesomeness to the world. For the rest I can share pretty epic stories of my travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No official couchsurfing experiences just yet, but I can tell you why I joined:

My most remarkable travel experiences where always while staying with other local people. This was the case for my guest families in Goulburn and Ballarat in Sydney, but also when we stayed at Jules place, who we met during a Reddit-meetup in Paris. And our guest mother in Oslo (Norway) even left us a pineapple for when we got home in the middle of the night!

Next to that I've been kinda adopted into an Indian family during my stay in Mumbai...

The feeling you get from staying in the local culture and the places local people can show you just make couchsurfing the best.

Hope to add my first real couchsurfing experience soon!

Music, Movies, and Books

Too much. Too lazy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A spontaneous tour from a public bus and it's driver through downtown Sydney, bonfire in the middle of Australian country side and sleeping a night out in the open with 200,000 other pilgrims on Randwick Racecourse. Travelling sleeper class in India, flying kites in Baroda and being something like a celebrity on a Mumbai base university. Lying in the grass watching the clouds move on very different places on earth, discovering the best European camp site ever (because I broke down our car :/) and getting the chance to enjoy so many special things on this planet. And many more.

Discovering my second family was must've topped all though. Maybe I should get that arranged marriage after all...

Teach, Learn, Share

I might not be the most responsible person to learn from, but I think everybody brings something to the table. So I'm pretty sure you can learn something from everybody (I guess this then includes me also).
