About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Being a more conscious consumer

ABOUT ME

Currently, I am about to finish my master studies and am working as a research assistent at my university in Munich.

Whenever I find the time, I go south to do what I really want to do: be in Italy. (My longing for Italy got even worse after I have studied in Rome for 6 months.)

Apart from that I am quite an active person, meeting friends, taking sun in parks, going to museums, trekking in the Alps, biking, running, learning languages, finding new ways for a more conscious consumerism, ...

I am up for almost any activity, dynamic, communicative and did I mention curious?

PHILOSOPHY

My life philosophy is that of a eco-friendly minimalist.

I care about the environment and am constantly looking for little things to improve my ecological impact without stressing me too much. This is, however, sometimes a two-bladed sword. Would be happy to learn more and have ideas of others on that.

The opportunities of the newly arising "sharing economy" intrigue me a lot - one of the reasons why I want to couchsurf on my travels.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Up till now, my couchsurfing experience are limited to friend's couches.

Interests

Learning new things, meeting new people, being hedonist

When I visit a new place I want to know more about the "normal" life there, emerse in the daily life of people I meet there rather than doing the tourist program, eating local food, drinking wine and discussing differences between cultures, ...

I am a big fan of "open air" activities, from running or cycling in the green parts of a city, going to the mountains, or just relaxing in a park or strolling through the streets.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love going to the cinema, watch a good movie and then discuss it over a drink in a bar. In Italy I saw plenty of Italian movies (favorite director: Tornatore) and continue to do so in Munich.

Music is not so much an issue for me, but when I listen to music it's pop/rock or electro swing.

Favorite author: Rafik Schami, Syrian-German storyteller who narrates the most amazing fairy tales that take place in Damascus

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing experiences all happened in Italy where I lost my heart to during my first holidays as a child, then returning for almost every coming holidays.

Two months ago, an evening that still makes me laugh to tears: a night in Rome at the Gianicolo (a hill with amazing sight over the city) talking with an Italian friend about Italian and German tongue twisters, ending up with swearwords and meters in Ancient Greek literature (maybe we ended up with even another topic but I cannot remember).

Best holidays I spent there was a 1-week trekking tour from Florence to Siena - having everything you need on your back, walking, walking, walking and enjoying the fact of being alive without having to spend a lot of money.

Recently I've spent 6 legendary months in Rome, and now I am sure I want to live there. My amazement doesn't find enough place in between bits and bytes but I am more than happy to tell you in person!
