About Me

Hitchhiking was an interesting experience to me but coachsurfing sounds even more fun! Meeting new people is fascinating simply because of how memories of those people are stored in your mind. Some are forgiven, and some become a part of your life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the idea of sharing, and sharing disinterestedly.
Your experience, your life, interests can be truly inspirational for other people, it’s worth the effort (if you can call it an effort).

Interests

Foreign languages (learning Arabic and Russian), different cultures, education, amateur photography, Latin dancing (salsa, kizomba), collective memory (how history is stored in people’s minds, interviews), vintage aesthetics, books, adventures

Music, Movies, and Books

Bulgakov’s sense of humour is definitely one of my favourites! And Svetlana Alexievich’s writing is truly inspirational.
Non-fiction mainly, but I can’t say I’m not sentimental about Harry Potter (both books and films). There’s a lot to discover in a bookworm world! (Allergic to manuals though!)

Movies are some sort of window into a different culture. So are literature and music, but films depict it in a specific, original way.

And music? Arabic: Mashrou Leila, Jadal. Russian: Виктор Цой, Ленинград, Мумий Тролл, Игорь Корнелюк, The Retuses. French: Stromae, Christine and the Queens. English: Cage the Elephant, Kings of Leon, Muse, The Kooks... the list is never-ending.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve once spent a New Year’s in Prague with a friend. We went there for 24 h, arranged ‘accommodation’ only for our suitcases in an expensive-looking hotel and went off celebrating the New Year in Lucerna club (a great place, would recommend!) until 6am. In the morning we had to pick our luggage up and find another place to store it until the evening, as we planned to do some sightseeing. The only place that agreed to store some strangers’ luggage on the 1st January was a police station.
