About Me
Want to play a game? There are four Polish words randomly hid in my profile and couch description (they are marked by brackets or other characters, you'll notice). Put them in your request and I'll know that you took some time to at least glance at my profile. If you need a place to stay, you are more likely to receive a positive response (I'm not against obvious copy/paste requests, but I don't feel bad about ignoring them as well) :)
I am a university student at the University of Warsaw, my majors are Law and Chinese studies. Currently I live (and study) in Warsaw, but my hometown is Poznań.
I am a great fan of fantasy/science-fiction - mostly literature, as I own several hundreds books from the genre, but I also love comic books, movies and TV series. I used to be an avid gamer, but lately I've been playing more casually. Moreover, for several years now I have been helping to organize one of the largest science-fiction conventions in Europe, Pyrkon (you can find us on pyrkon.pl).
I like animals, especially cats and chinchillas. [chrząszcz] Seriously, chinchillas are so cool. I don't smoke and (usually) don't drink alcohol, but don't mind other people doing either. I'm not religious (I'm an agnostic), but will happily discuss religion. I don't care about politics, which makes making friends so much easier. I hope to learn from other people and other cultures.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because it gives me an opportunity to visit people, not just places, make new friends and see how others live in different parts of the world.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've read so many amazing books, it's difficult to choose 'my favorites'. Some of them I love, because they lift my spirits or make me laugh, some of them make me think (quite a feat, as I'm blonde), some of them have beautiful language... some books you have to savor slowly, others you cannot put down. I can talk for hours about books, so don't get me started. Some of the all-time favorites, in random order, are:
- The Discworld series by Terry Pratchett
- China Mieville, 'The City & the City', 'Embassytown'
- Paolo Bacigalupi, 'The Wind-up Girl'
- Neal Stephenson, 'The Baroque Cycle', 'Anathem', 'Cryptonomicon', 'Snow Crash'
- Frank Herbert, 'Dune'
- Douglas Adams, 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy'
- Gene Wolfe, 'The Book of the New Sun'
- Neil Gaiman, 'American Gods'
- Jacek Dukaj, 'Perfekcyjna Niedoskonałość', 'Inne Pieśni'
- Andrzej Sapkowski, 'The Witcher Saga'
- Mikhail Bulgakov, 'The Master and Margarita'
- ...I can keep going for a really long time, but maybe you should simply ask me personally :)
Obviously, I don't limit myself to science-fiction. I'd read everything with letters on it, I'll be especially happy to discuss legal philosophy, which probably sounds really boring to you. But (usually) it's not. No, honestly!
My favorite movie is 'The Avengers', but there are many others that I have enjoyed - most of them are action/science-fiction/fantasy. When it comes to film, I keep my horizons comfortably narrow.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
My most amazing experience is co-organizing Pyrkon, a fan-made science-fiction convention based in Poznań. Each year, more and more people (over 20k in 2014!) come to share their interest in everything connected to the genre - books, movies, TV series, games, comics, cosplay and more. I am proud to be one of the people who help to make it happen, even if the part I play is really small.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'll gladly participate in language exchange, we can continue meeting via Skype or Google Hangouts. I am fluent in Polish (my mother tongue) and English, I will be happy to practice Mandarin Chinese and French. I can also teach you the basics of these languages. //trzcina//
I can teach you how to cook some of my favorite dishes (including, but not limited to, some traditional Polish recipes) and I will gladly learn how to cook better.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I like to cook for people, so if you like to eat food, but hate to prepare it, perhaps I can help. If you're simply curious to try some new dishes, I'd love to introduce you to traditional Polish cuisine and I also have several recipes I'll gladly share. If you need help with basic housework, just ask.
Most of all, I hope that you can enjoy my company as much as I will enjoy yours.
