About Me

Hello! My name is Maggie and i'm an American student currently studying in France!Back home, I study Sociology and French at a small university in the woods of west Michigan.
I look forward to all of my worldly travels ahead and the incredible people that will contribute to them:)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have found that the only way to really experience a city is to be shown around by a local. The real culture is found in the dinner conversation or hole in the wall coffee shop down the street. Moreover, i'm trying to build my cornucopia of international friends and expand my currently very American horizons.

Interests

I love reading classic literature (specifically those with a science-fiction twist), listening to music, baking, cooking, traveling, reveling in the beauty of nature, swimming, fashion, international religions (i'm currently studying Wicca), philosophizing, watching documentaries on youtube, and a million other things.

Music, Movies, and Books

My taste in music is quite varied-- i'm a lover of jazz, the blues, rock n' roll, indie-alternative, garage rock, and the occasional funky-disco.
some of my favorite artists are: ABBA, The Beach Boys, Bruce Springsteen, Courtney Barnett, Daft Punk, Dean Martin, Louis Armstrong, the Who, Radiohead, Father John Misty, Iggy Pop, Mac Demarco, Lou Reed, and countless others

Movies: I love spooky (not gory) retro horror films, comedies, and psychological dramas. At the end of the day, I'm quite a sucker for cult classics. The Big Lebowski, The Royal Tenebaums, Slapshot, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, and the Sixth Sense never fail me.

As a former Literature major--I'm an extreme book lover. My favorites of all time include: Breakfast of Champions by Vonnegut, Brave New World by Huxley, Hamlet by Shakespere, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Thompson.
honorable mentions go to: Siddhartha, The Stranger, Beyond Good and Evil, Stranger in a Strange Land, 1984, all of Flannery O'Conner, and all of the Beat writers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 16, I climbed Yosemite alone and in my socks(long story, was not exactly on purpose)
