Overview
About Me
I’m a 7th grade English teacher living close to downtown Des Moines in an awesome neighborhood! Previously, I spent some time in New Zealand finishing up my student teaching and it was absolutely incredible. This was where I actually had my first couch surfing experience and completely loved it; I couldn’t have gotten luckier with my hosts. I love to travel and would love to continue being a part of this amazing community. MY PHILOSOPHY: Everybody has a story to tell.

Music, Movies, and Books
Way too many to name - since I teach, I’m partial to a lot of YA lit, and I love myself a good picture book with a beautiful message. Movies: I can watch (and feel obligated to watch) Shawshank Redemption any time it is on television. I like a lot of independent films, B-horror movies, documentaries, and terrible Lifetime movies about scorned women. MUSIC: very eclectic taste, depending on my mood. I generally have two playlists: happy and melancholy.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Bungee jumping was pretty amazing. Also, waking up to watch the sunrise at Cathedral Cove.
My favorite "amazing" thing was climbing up a large cliff face on a secluded beach during an extremely windy rain storm.
Teach, Learn, Share
