About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to live life through travelling, one adventure at a time

ABOUT ME

Hey, I'm Maggie! I'm originally from a suburb of Chicago but I've been living in Barcelona for the past year. I'm almost done with my third year of college (yikes!) which will hopefully earn me degrees in spanish and communications. I have absolutely NO idea what I want to do with my, except travel. That's all I've ever wanted to do, and no matter what that's what I'll continue to do. Other things about me? I love soccer (FC Barca!), laying on the beach, seeing the weather change from spring to summer :) and I love to drink tea. Although this year Spain has made me addicted to coffee...I wish I could cook better and if I could have any superpower I would teleport for sure.

PHILOSOPHY

"No pasa nada". This phrase basically means "don't worry about it" in Spanish and it's used for everything. I learned it while living in Barcelona this year and I love when I hear it. I think sometimes life deals you a bad hand and you just have to go with it. Shit happens but in the end I think everything always works out.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I first heard about couchsurfing from a couple of friends who had read about it online. Since they knew I would be travelling a lot this year, they suggested that I try it. So I did and I loved it! I believe that Couchsurfing is more than just a free place to stay. I got the chance to actually get to know people and their city through their eyes. Thanks to couchsurfing I have some pretty good stories and have had awesome adventures.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Unfortunately I can't host anyone in my apartment because my landlords are the craziest freakin people ever. But I've really enjoyed surfing! So far I've only done it twice, but they were great experiences. My family thinks it's a little weird and that I'm crazy for staying with people that I don't even know but I find that exciting!

Interests

Travelling of course, MUSIC (im kind of a snob about it sometimes), many many tv shows like: it's always sunny in philadelphia, how i met your mother, gossip girl, glee, arrested development, alias, friends, the office, skins, anthony bourdain, and so much more. I also love being with family and friends although this year has been some what nice without them :) I also love soccer, partying, trying new food, driving, doing random and weird things.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: pretty much everything except for country. I love alternative music and some indie music. Then again I also love hip hop when I'm getting ready to party :) Movies: Disney movies are the best! and my favorite is the Little Mermaid. Books: HARRY POTTER. and my favorite book is The Truth About Forever.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw a town in southern France get covered in sea foam! It was crazy and looked like the sea was throwing up! Apparently it only happens once a year and I got to witeness it!

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't really have any exceptional skills that I can teach....I guess I could show you how to make delicious authentic irish mashed potatoes. I've been told I make some pretty great ones! I've also been told I'm really good at impressions and I can quote a lot of tv shows and movies....although I don't think those are teachable things. What I hope to learn is anything and everything. A few months ago I learned how to uncork a wine bottle with a pocket knife, and I would love to learn how to drive a manual car (well without having to think about it a lot).

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom
