About Me
Hello! I am Maggie and I am new to couch surfing. I have traveled previously, and have taken two jobs abroad after graduating from college. I was an international intern at a rainforest conservation non-profit in Panama and then I went to Spain to Au Pair. I love traveling, and am trying to possibly make a career out of it. I love everything outdoors/active and I'm very open, friendly and always have a scene of humor and optimism. I love meeting new people and I want to have friends all over the world! I am so glad to be living in a time where we have websites like this, and can make connections with people in such amazing places.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to explore new places while experiencing the culture closer than staying in a hotel. I feel that you get more honest of an experience while staying with someone who lives in the area. Show me your local dive bar, your secret nature spot or your fav coffee joint! I want to see the world so I accepted a job at Skywest Airlines and I plan to travel around as much as I can. Since flying standby requires a lot of patience and changing of plans, I thought that this could be a cool way to make that work on the small budget I have.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am a big non-fiction reader (currently binging on audiobooks from Overdrive, can I get a library card from your local library??) and some of my favorite books include: 10% human, The Third Plate, The Happiness Project, anything by Michael Pollan, and the Field Guide to Insects of North America (hey, what can I say, I love bugs!)
For music, I'm all over the place! Some all time favs include: RHCP, CCR, Jack Johnson, Dirty Heads, ect ect. I will always be down for a Summer hits of the 90s playlist or maybe even some country on a sunny day. This year has brought a new obsession with foreign music for me, and I've loved listening to music in Spanish, Italian, German, and Portuguese. My favorite Spanish bands include Bacilos and Efecto Pasillo (Listen to Pan y Mantequilla, for a sense of my music tastes, and for a mood boosting jig!)
I'm always moving so I tend to not watch a whole lot of movies or TV.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
While working for the non-profit in Panama, I lived at a remote field station in the mountain rainforest in the Darién Provence. Wow what an experience! This was truly living "off the grid." No electricity or anything that normally goes with it (wifi, warm water, refrigeration, lights at night) and it changed my entire perspective on life. Ask me more, I've got some fun stories from that time!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Throughout my travels I have picked up some authentic recipes that I can teach you to cook. I love cooking and I love learning new cooking skills so just let me know what you want to eat and I'll learn how to make it!
