About Me
Hi! I'm Maggie. I'm 23 and I am from the US originally (Milwaukee), but currently pursuing an MPhil in Public History at Trinity College Dublin. I love to travel and to learn new languages. I spend my free time watching movies, going to concerts, playing piano, and cooking--I've been a vegetarian for about four years and love spicy food!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love meeting people from around the world and learning about the history, traditions, and norms of different cultures. I think the best kind of friendships are those created while travelling, being able to share stories and traditions together and making new memories :)
Interests
My focus in my degree is on Soviet history, and I really love Russian language and culture (ask me about Soviet hippies). In terms of music taste, I'm not very picky, although not a huge country or metal fan. I like to think I speak Spanish more or less fluently, Russian and Chinese at a B2 level, and am teaching myself French, German and Slovene.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last year I spent three months on a solo trip through Slovenia and Spain. My favorite memory is taking a bike ride from Bled to the nearby town of Radovljica through tiny villages and rolling hills. I asked for directions in Slovene and was probably disproportionately proud of myself...
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm really interested in learning languages, and do my best to know at least a little of the local language before going somewhere. I think immersion is one of the best ways to learn, so I would love to stay with someone who can teach me their language while I am staying with them. I can also help with practice speaking English or Spanish, since English is my native language and I am very comfortable in Spanish. I'd love to share a meal (as long as there's no meat involved!) and have discussion--if you're up on Russian history that's a bonus.
