About Me

Entering my second year studying Geology in Scotland. To cut things short (cause nobody likes reading long about me's), I just really like music, looking at rocks, and eating food. Give me a tub of hummus and some baguette and I'll be happy for days. I also love to bake and I make a mean banana bread, if I do say so myself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm really intrigued by the concept of getting to know a city from the insider's perspective of a local, rather than just the having the typical tourist experience that is described in every guidebook. I sometimes feel like through hotels/hostels I become more distanced from the city and am not experiencing the full extent of what it has to offer. I've never done Couchsurfing before so I'm really curious and excited to see what's in store!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music-wise I'm gonna go for the blanket term 'Indie Rock', as much as I hate it. Favourite bands are: Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Beirut, Bon Iver, Tame Impala, the War on Drugs, Interpol, the National, Car Seat Headrest, alt-J.

More of a TV show than movie person, but some movies I've enjoyed over the years include Drive, Pulp Fiction, Inglourious Basterds, We Need To Talk About Kevin, the Virgin Suicides, the LOTR trilogy, and the original Star Wars trilogy.
TV shows: Parks and Rec, the Office (US), Elementary, Modern Family, Arrested Development, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, Mad Men, Downton Abbey, Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Game of Thrones, Black Mirror, Orange Is The New Black, Chef's Table, BoJack Horseman, Rick and Morty, Archer, Adventure Time, The Get Down, Gilmore Girls, Master of None.

In terms of books, I can't pick a favourite but I love Günter Grass' 'Danzig Trilogy'. Currently reading Dostoevsky's 'Crime and Punishment' which I'm really enjoying too.
