About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Reaching mars and establishing the first human colony.

ABOUT ME

I work in Wellington government, like to argue about politics, religion, life, the universe and everything, love to travel when the opportunity arises, want to make the world a better place somehow.

PHILOSOPHY

Thoroughly interested in philosophy to the point in getting a reasonably useless degree in it (along with a few others), constantly overanalysing everything but left leaning to the point of revolution (kinda - as long as the revolution is nice and involves freedom, beauty, truth and love) and vegan (aggressively).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I did a bit of surfing round Europe and now have a couch available.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Really enjoyed all couch surfing experiences, highlight probably wintercamp in Targa-Mures.

Interests

Philosophy (reading/talking), watching television programs (but not on television), cricket (when england occasionally wins something), writing (short stories/grand novels), dancing (badly), singing (off key), drinking heavily (regularly)

Music, Movies, and Books

Pink Floyd, Yes, Wilco, Arcade Fire, Magnetic Fields, Noah and the Whale, Fanfarlo, Mountain Goats (and lots more along these lines).

Love reading constantly. Book taste ranges from classics and contemporary literature to non fiction and sci fi.

Any television or movie that isn't terrible. I think we can all agree what something terrible is.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Built an ice cave in the Ross Ice Shelf, Antarctica and lived in it for 5 days.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm vaguelly an expert in Antarctic law and politics, and have done a lot of study in generic Antarctic issues. So if you want to know about Antarctic stuff, let me know. Also have degrees in philosophy, psychology and law but slept through most lectures so know relatively little. Also interested in human rights law, in particular issues surrounding disability. I am a charities regulator by profession, so know a lot about the charitable sector, and what constitutes a charity in law. I can also play the ukulele badly.

Countries I’ve Visited

Antarctica, Brazil, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In

New Zealand, United Kingdom
