About Me

CURRENT MISSION

See the world and have fun doing so.

ABOUT ME

I listen to a great deal of music, but I am unable to create any.

I have two older brothers; they are very important to me, and I have to thank them for who I became.

I worked for two years after college, and decided the cubicle life was not for me. So I entered 'early retirement' and TRIED my hand at equities trading. Well, that didn't work out so I am going to travel for a year before I am forced to return to the cube.

I would like to get into solar thermal systems or photovoltaics when its time to start working again.

I don't smoke, but I couldn't care less if you do.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is not about how much you die with.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used Global Freeloaders in the past (trip to Europe in 2002) as well as for my first bike tour down the Oregon Coast. I have hosted only one person since then...mainly because Reno is not a hot tourist destination. I wish more people would visit so I could give back more, and meet new friends!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Was hosted in: London; Copenhagen; Vienna; Paris; Brookings, Oregon; Eureka, California; Florence, Oregon; Santa Cruz, CA; Monterrey, CA; Ventura, CA.

I have had so many good experiences participating in these types of communities. It really give you a chance to learn about these destinations and the cultures better than hanging out with a bunch of other tourists. It's not about 'freeloading', it's about culture exchange, and lending a hand to others.

Interests

Woodworking, cycling(!!!), ultimate frisbee, cooking, eating(!), going to Lake Tahoe, soccer, movies, music, and traveling.

I used to play ice hockey, but am currently unable because no rink in hometown.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite TV show is Arrested Development...hands down. Others in the ranking include The Simpsons, The Office, The Daily Show, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and thats it.

Favorite Movie, hard to say, but The Big Lebowski is up there. "Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man." Others in the ranking include Little Miss Sunshine, Garden State, Fight Club, Caddyshack, SuperTroopers, Mostly Martha...

I used to read, but haven't done much lately. Believe it or not, attending school is why I stopped. Studying engineering left little time for reading. My favorite book is probably Catcher in the Rye.

Some of my favorite bands: Tribe Called Quest, Elliot Smith, Broken Social Scene, Silversun Pickups, Living Legends, Heiro, PUTS, RATM...
