About Me
I find myself in the unique situation where I'm at a stage in my life to want to explore new places, people and cultures. I have very little keeping me in my home country, on the contrary, I have so many reasons not to want to be in my home country. I have travelled abroad once before, in 2014, but the circumstances were quite different back then. I just needed a break from reality at the time. I lost the love of my life, my soul-mate, best friend, My Paula, to pancreatic cancer. I travelled to Patong, Thailand and spent it like most travellers... partying it up every day. What I did learn from the experience, is that there is a lot more to life than Bangla Road. But then... we shall not speak about all that happens in that infamous road!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I would like to share what I've learned in my life to date. Living in a country like South Africa all my life has shaped me into someone who has learned to deal with adversity and all different types of situations and people. I recently completed my TEFL course with the aim of helping aspiring individuals to a better life. To truly immerse myself into a new way of living, understand a new culture and to learn the local way of doing things, I would presume Couchsurfing would be an ideal platform. To learn from people that have taken the leap into the unknown, would be ideal. It could take months to learn how things are done and at a much higher cost. I don't have much as far as earthly things are concerned. As I have been getting rid of stuff, I found this sense of freedom growing inside of me. Now my whole life of earthly stuff has been absorbed within my friends 2 bedroom apartment. So I will need a place to crash, someone to show me the ropes in getting going in a foreign country. I love cooking, so don't mind that chore at all. I also enjoy gardening. I'm not into clubbing anymore and would much rather enjoy a cold one under a tree.
