ABOUT ME
I'm a student; it's an affliction I can't seem to shake. Officially I study linguistics but unofficially I study 1000 other things and love to have intense sorts of conversations about them all. I'm not very impulsive, but I look upon that as something to change rather than embrace, and god knows I'm more than happy to participate in others' compulsions. My sense of humor is dry as dust, but it is also boundless.
One day I want to build myself a house.
PHILOSOPHY
You can make a wish on a star, at 11:11 (and 22:22), on candles, on a dandelion, on any lucky omen, and it will come true if you wish something good for someone else.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
By meeting other CSers! Got involved in Bloomington and Aix-en-Provence, now back in South Bend and looking forward to traveling again. In the meantime practicing my French, picking German up, and trying to meet interesting locals.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Meet-ups in Bloomington, IN, USA, and Aix-en-Provence, France, which were great fun and an excellent chance to talk to (very patient and welcoming) locals, plus some actual couch surfing. Several family members and friends have had excellent experiences which make me want to get out more.
Interests
I'm interested in things that are pretty, and things that are ugly, and why it is sometimes hard to tell the difference between the two.

- cooking

Music, Movies, and Books
American transcendentalism, French surrealism, German expressionism, everyone's satire. Music with strings, with ladies singin', with a good story behind it.
Teach, Learn, Share
I have a pedantic streak a mile wide, if you ask me about something I know well I WILL tell you all about it, be warned. And I will hope for the same in return. I know about cooking and veg nutrition and superfrugal living, I know a lot about linguistics and a load of social psychology, and I know dances and yoga. Do you know how to build things (houses)? Do you know how to dance?
My "languages to learn" list conveniently doubles as a "languages of the world" list.
