About Me
Mahazizi, a normal foodie touring cyclist living in south east of Malaysia where the beautiful strip of Desaru Beach is located.
If you are travelling from north-east of Malaysia, I can be reached via Route 3, 212, 213, 99 and 92. Recommend to use Route 3, then take a junction via Tanjung Leman Roads towards Tanjung Sedili. From there, use Route 213 straight to my location. I would suggest the above roads as you may cut 40% of dragon-back roads via Route 3 and time saving.
My house coordinates:
Latitude 1.579733, Longitude 104.218688
1*34'47"N, 104*13'07.3"E
Talking about the Malaysia-Singapore border crossing (as my location is near to marine border), I would like to share less popular (but great choice for cyclist) of alternative crossing from Singapore to Malaysia (vice-versa) via east coast roads, cyclist may take a ferry to cross the border (less traffic & time saving compared to land crossing via Woodlands or Tuas).
From Malaysia (Tanjung Belungkor Ferry Terminal) to Singapore (Changi Ferry Terminal)
- The Tanjung Belungkor Ferry Terminal is located 32km from the my location i.e. Desaru (might take 1.5 hours cycling via Route 92 & 89..or just give me a shout so that I can plan for pick-up on the road).
- 30 minutes duration of ferry ride.
- Ferry fares is USD25/pax/way and extra USD5bike. If I'm not mistaken, ticket can be purchased online as well.
- For more details about the ferry service i.e. trip & schedule, please visit www.tanjungbelungkor.com
- Normally, 2 trips per day during weekdays and 6 trips per day during weekend. Earliest morning ferry is 8.30am from Tanjung Belungkor and 9.30am from Changi.
Good thing about this alternative crossing is, from Changi Ferry Terminal, there's a Park Connecting Network (PCN) towards Singapore City Center via Changi Coast, East Coast Park and Marina. It's gonna be nice 1.5 hour of bike riding along the coastal area towards the Singapore City Center where you can reach Marina Barrage, Gardens by the Bay, Bayfront etc.
There's another marine crossing that may come into consideration i.e. Tanah Merah / Changi Point (Singapore) to Pengelih (Johor, Malaysia) but there's two main problems:
1) This service is using bum boat. You may end up of waiting for quite sometime (hours and day) just to fill up the boat to maximum passenger capacity.
2) Further distance to north. Furthermore, there is a massive construction work happening and it's not advisable to cycle along the route for safety reason.
Lets meet up for a great story sharing and a cup of coffee...and not just that, go to night market on Friday (just in front of my house, seafood and many more.
Drop me an email if you plan to pass by or stay..cheers
