Hey 👋 this is Mahdi!
I’m an adventure seeker from Tehran, now living in Amsterdam. I came here for my Master’s and ended up staying for work (and the stroopwafels).

I’m all about nature: hiking, mountaineering, and camping are my happy place (nothing beats a campfire in the woods). I also love capturing nature through my camera and exploring new cultures along the way.

Hit me up anytime, I'm always up for reaching mountain tops and going on extreme hikes! Recently got into indoor climbing (top rope). If you’re into it too, maybe we can have a climbing session together! 🧗‍♂️

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’ve always wanted to connect with locals and experience their culture first-hand, not just see places, but feel how people live there. I also love meeting fellow travelers who are into nature and adventure. If you enjoy hiking or exploring the outdoors, we’ll probably get along great!

Music, Movies, and Books

🎵 I record my memories in songs and every mood has its own soundtrack. My taste goes from pop to alternative, and there’s rarely a day I don’t have music playing.

From thrilling shows like Dark and Breaking Bad to feel-good ones like Ted Lasso or Friends, I’m always watching something: Peaky Blinders, The White Lotus, Sherlock, Big Bang Theory, Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, Stranger Things, Arcane, How I Met Your Mother, Prison Break, Rick and Morty, Money Heist, Downton Abbey, Veep, Vikings, BoJack Horseman, Lost, and much more!

📽 As for movies, just give me stunning visuals, clever plots, or epic adventures and I’m in: All Christopher Nolan movies, Fight Club, The Matrix, Shutter Island, Leon, Schindler’s List, Pulp Fiction, Into the Wild, The Revenant, Dune, Seven, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Her, 1917, The Notebook, and the list goes on!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I survived a near-death accident in a river in a narrow valley in Iran, dragged over a kilometer by the current, a terrifying but unforgettable experience.

I conquered Mount Damavand (5,609 m), the highest peak in Iran and the Middle East, when I was 19. I took the longest route (55+ km) and reached the summit solo in just 1.5 days instead of the usual three.

I also climbed Mount Etna, the highest volcano in Europe, and stood just a meter away from its crater, feeling the heartbeat of the mountain beneath me!

And I hiked the West Highland Way in Scotland, one of the country’s longest trails, usually done in 8 days but I finished it in 5.5.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories from my wild adventures in Iran, some crazy, some risky, all unforgettable. I’ve got photos and videos of landscapes that usually make people say, “Wait, that’s Iran?!”

I’m always curious about other cultures and love good conversations, exploring together, or just hanging out. But I’m also perfectly fine doing my own thing if you need your space.
