I'm an American student from Michigan studying Political Science at MSU.
I also currently work at the Office of Study Abroad at my university
I enjoy traveling (original huh?) for new inspirations and experiences, and especially enjoy meeting people and learning about their lives and stories from around the world!!
Outside of traveling, my interests include; language learning, trying new things, cats, Archer, good beer, good food, and good people. :)

I'm pretty open-minded, independent, and am super keen to adventure and experience as much as possible of this amazing world we live in.

Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin

Huge respect for CS and CSers.
Out of the hotels, hostels, and Airbnbs I've stayed at on my travels, couchsurfing is still my absolute favorite. Looking forward to host, myself, but cannot currently as I live in a sorority house.
There's something about the passion in people's eyes when talking about their favorite hidden spots or giving suggestions on things to do/ how to get around in their city. In my experiences, solo travel can get a bit lonely, so forging new friendships while on the road makes for the most meaningful experiences and memories.
I view this site as a opportunity to see places with a locals’ perspective coupled with having the chance to meet like-minded (and unlike-minded) individuals from around the world! I think CS is a great means for solo travelers seeking authentic experiences outside of boring hotel rooms and humdrum tourist attraction sightseeing as well as for CS hosts to be able to meet and show travelers their fav local spots and ways of life!

So hmu if you wanna show a stupid American around your city haha ;)

Lehren, lernen, teilen

Something I fortunately learned early on in my travels is "Mai Pen Rai". A Thai expression that is elusive in meaning but can be understood in English to mean any of the following: no worries, it’s okay, it doesn’t matter, no problem, don’t worry about it, it is what it is, don’t sweat the small stuff, life goes on, there’s no use crying over spilled milk. Being able to handle difficult situations, not fretting over trifling things, and an all-pervading cheerfulness are the trademarks of Mai Pen Rai and how I try to live my life!!
It’s been said that life begins at the end of your comfort zone. And I believe that to be incontrovertibly true. I’ve been pushed out of my comfort zone so many times, I question if I even have one anymore. When something doesn’t go as planned, I’ve gained the resilience to accept what has happened, what I cannot change, and to take steps to move forward. Things will go wrong. But what you learn and the character you build from how you handle it could not be reached without each and every challenge thrown your way.
Really hope practicing this approach on life rubs off on those I meet.
