About Me

Hi, I'm Mai! I'm passionate about people, culture, and creating meaningful connections. I work with care-experienced individuals in Uganda, helping to support their thriving in communities. I love meeting new people, exchanging stories, and learning about different cultures. I'm also a huge fan of football, Ugandan football and Liverpool to be specific and enjoy spending time with my foster children during the holidays.

My home is a bit outside the city, but it offers a beautiful view of Lake Victoria, with a quiet village atmosphere that's perfect for unwinding. I'm easygoing, friendly, and always up for a good conversation. Whether it's talking about life, culture, or just enjoying the peace and tranquility, I look forward to hosting you!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I love connecting with people from different parts of the world. It’s a great way to share stories, cultures, and experiences, while also offering a welcoming space for travelers. I believe that traveling is more than just visiting places—it's about the connections we make along the way. As a host, I’m excited to meet new friends, learn about their journeys, and offer a glimpse into life in Uganda, all while creating unforgettable memories together

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy a variety of music, but I’m especially drawn to Afrobeat and Ugandan traditional sounds. Artists like Burna Boy, Eddy Kenzo, and Sauti Sol are always on my playlist. I also appreciate a bit of classic rock and some good old reggae for relaxing vibes.

I’m a fan of movies that inspire or tell powerful stories. Some of my favorites include The Pursuit of Happyness, Invictus, and Black Panther. I also enjoy documentaries, especially those that dive into real-life stories and global issues.
I love reading books that expand my understanding of the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Giving you to thrilling things i have done , sorry not sorry , but I have to share.
One amazing thing I’ve done is go gorilla trekking in the jungles of Uganda. Coming face to face with these majestic creatures in their natural habitat was an unforgettable experience. The adventure of trekking through the wilderness and witnessing the beauty of the gorillas up close is something I’ll never forget. And another amazing thing I’ve done is visit Anfield Stadium, the home of Liverpool FC. As a huge soccer fan, being at Anfield and feeling the energy of the crowd, seeing the pitch, and walking through the legendary halls was a dream come true. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that still gives me chills!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you about life in Uganda, including our rich culture, traditions, and local language. If you're interested, I can also share insights into the work I do with care leavers, and how we support young people transitioning from institutional care. And, of course, if you're a soccer fan, I’d love to chat about the game!
I’m always eager to learn about new cultures, perspectives, and ways of life. Whether it's a new language, a unique recipe, or just your view of the world, I’m open to learning something new from everyone I meet.

I’m happy to share my knowledge of Uganda, the best places to visit, and a deeper understanding of our history and natural beauty—especially the stunning views of Lake Victoria! I can also share stories of my experiences in both community work and travel.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share stories and insights about life in Uganda, especially around my work with care leavers and community projects. I’d love to share about my safari experiences, and my passion for soccer. If you're curious about Ugandan culture, I can introduce you to local customs, languages, and even some delicious Ugandan food! I also bring a positive and friendly attitude, always up for great conversations and cultural exchanges and i like dancing too.
