Hello international couchsurfers,

My name is Maia and I'm a 19-year-old student from the small country of The Netherlands. I am currently travelling through Australia on a Working Holiday for seven months to explore, learn and experience. I would love to get to know different people via couchsurfing and add this to my list of, already amazing, travel experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on Couchsurfing not just because it's an easy and cheap alternative to hostels etc, but also and mainly because I think it is a great opportunity to meet other people, get to know locals of the place you're visiting, experience other cultures and most of all because it's a great adventure!

Interests

My biggest passion, next to travelling at the moment, is art and especially music. I've been singing for over 10 years and have played piano for 6 years. Also I'm in love with the guitar, but haven't been able to learn it properly yet. I love to talk to people about different music genres or any art related subject really.
I also enjoy dancing, occasionally a good party, haha and just having a good time with original, interesting people!
I am also an eager learner so I would love to exchange cultural information, international opinions and views and history with people from all over the world, which makes Couchsurfing an ideal opportunity.
I am not very broadly interested sportwise, but I love to do yoga now and then and I LOVE to go for bike rides (which is kind of obvious because I'm Dutch)..

Music, Movies, and Books

I love acoustic, alternative music (am currently obsessed with Ed Sheeran) and some good jazz and blues now and then. I am also a great fan of old-school musicals (Blues Brothers, Grease). At a good party I can also enjoy some House ;)
My favorite movies and books vary from cartoons (I'll never be too old for Disney!) to Fantasy (big Harry Potter and LOTR fan) to romances (Safe Haven, The Notebook).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During my travels the last months I've done a roadtrip with two German friends in Australia from the Blue Mountains to Adelaide to Alice Springs (incl. Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and King's Canyon) to Townsville, camping all the time and driving straight trough the desert. I had never dreamed nor imagined that I would be able to do this and, even though it was very tough sometimes, I wouldn't change anything in the world for this life-changing experience!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my passion for art, travelling, education and just LIVING! I can share amazing experiences, laughter (I love laughing) and views about life that I've obtained during my travelling. I can share an experience to meet a true Dutchie! :)
