About Me

Maia: I am a free spirited individual very much career orientated. I have completed a degree in Science and am about to start another one in nursing. I think you could say that learning is my forte.

About me:
I have just entered the post college phase of life with completion of my biomedical degree. I spent the last three years of my life living in various parts of Auckland City. I absolutely loved my life there, and the people I met. I really found myself in that city and developed a desire for community. Now I am living in my home town Whangarei, city of 100 beaches and a sub-tropical lifestyle.

Kiera: Hi all! My name is Kiera. Im not as outgoing as Maia but am looking forward to having lots of fun travelling and meeting new people. I work in hospitality at the moment to save money for our trip. I have a cat called Jasper who is a real sweetheart. Ive never been on a plane before so this trip is going to be... interesting!!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Maia: I have only just stumbled across couchsurfing. I am planning a trip to Europe in August 2016 with my best friend Kiera.
With the exception of my travels to Australia, this will be the first and consequently one of the most significant trips I do in my lifetime.
After vigorous research into couch surfing, I understand the beauty of it. I love the idea of tight travel networks and provision of local culture.

Interests

Maia: Currently my biggest interest is travelling. I am very new to this so you will need to bare with me:) Maybe you can help me?

Kiera: I enjoy reading, writing and spending time with my friends as well as planning our trip for next year!

Music, Movies, and Books

Maia: I am going to sound like a COMPLETE nerd because I love to read textbooks and research articles. I find learning to be one of the most therapeutic activities I can do.
Music is a huge part of my life. Although I rarely perform anymore, I still play guitar. So if you can play, I'd love to jam.

Kiera: I like rock music and pretty much any movie with action or hotties :P Im a complete bookworm and will read just about anything.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Maia: Played a gig in Whangarei for the fireworks display which is one of Whangarei's biggest events, drawing the largest crowd I had ever played in front of. It was scary! But of course Amazing!

Teach, Learn, Share

Maia: I love to teach people how to play guitar. However, I don't get the opportunity very often.

Kiera: If you want to learn about King Henry and his wiveS, let me know;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can share our cultural perspective, maias home (which is a family home-including her mother, her older brother and Maia) and a garden full of vegetables. We can also share some insight into places in Whangarei and New Zealand. Maias father owns a kayaking business, so if you want to go kayaking she can also help organise that too. Unfortunately, she cannot offer free kayaking as that is how her father makes a living. Here's a link to the website http://www.nzseakayaking.co.nz/
However, Maia can offer a free bed and everything else mentioned above.
