About Me

hello ,

i'm analog photographer , this is my website: https://maider-brouque.jimdo.com/

I was born and grew up in Biarritz in the south west of France.

3 years ago I decided to put my suitcases in Hossegor, in the middle of nature, which calms me down and helps me developing my creativity.

I started film photography as a child with disposable cameras and a polaroid. I was a dreamer, always outside discovering forest lakes and mountains, smelling flowers and rolling in the grass.

I haven't changed that much, today I listen to the kid within me, as it always makes me happy .

Nowadays I am still attached to analogue photography, I like the authenticity of the photograph, the soul, the story it tells, the feeling it releases, the purity, the mystery and the poetry that comesout of it.

I had an art project last year with a friend of mine during my trip to california :

Maider and San, two French thirties passionate about analog photography, with adventurous souls, go to California and Central America (South America if the time and the budget allow it) with our cameras and films, meet people living outside the system of so-called classical society.

Both rich of our experiences of traveling in different countries and photographic work in solo, our meeting was before all a human and artistic blow of heart, and this project an obviousness.

We wanted to meet these people who gave up everything to live away from California's high-profile beaches and rhinestones and sequins, in these "cities" in the middle of the desert and elsewhere, far from the pressure of society and most of the time alive in self-sufficiency, in a territory without a real hierarchy, where everyone helps the community and remains free to live his life as he sees fit.

Far from overconsumption, and different dictates of our Western society, we also want to show that these people who have often been rejected in their previous lives express their creativity and exhibit their artistic works in this community, made many meeting places for artists locals often depicting this new life or their anger towards society through this art.

The part of the project in Mexico and South America will focus on life independently in remote places where traditional practices and traditional medicines predominate and punctuate everyday life.

WHY?

We wish through this photo report to highlight the sense of humanity in its raw state, to understand the new life of these people who find harmony and inspire us.

We want to spend time with these people, learn about their choice of life and freedom, and share it through our photographs.

In a way, to pay homage to those pioneers with extraordinary qualities who perhaps hold the key to a way of life that we will probably have to adopt in the decades to come, given the dramatic environmental situation we are currently facing. , a return and a more natural relationship to basic things, a much more ecological way of living and healthier, no doubt.

So beyond the artistic aspect, this project is also a human and ecological project.

HOW?

Going to meet these people and spending time with them.

We have already contacted people through social networks who are ready to meet us and share their daily lives.

On site, going to meet people directly, during our stops.

We have already established a small road map of the places we are interested in and which we wish to explore and illustrate.

We will use our film cameras and a camcorder to film moments of life throughout this adventure.

We will share daily our days through our Instagram created on this subject:
