About Me
Maira Zamir is a Fulbright Scholar who is currently pursuing a Master’s in Public Administration at Cornell University’s Institute of Public Affairs, where she is concentrating on international development and focusing on Economic and Business Development. She holds a Bachelors in Business Administration from University of Central Punjab in Pakistan. Maira has also been nominated for Global Undergraduate Exchange Program at Eastern Washington University where she studied Public Relations. She is also a house scholar at Telluride Association’s Cornell Branch where she is acting as a community chair. Her work thus far has concerned the interrelated problems of community engagement, female empowerment, and international development. She engaged these issues in her work with various international and national organizations, including the World Bank, UNICEF, USAID, and the American Consulate General. She has also remained a teacher of Business Studies and Economics for O-Level students at Beaconhouse School System for 2 years. Maira has also worked on many international projects including Cornell’s SMART Project in Bangkok, Thailand, Cornell’s Cooperative Extension 4-H Afterschool Program in Ontario, New York, Evaluation of New Orleans Redevelopment Authority’s Program, Comparative Public Policy Analysis of Seoul, South Korea and many community development projects in Pakistan with the help of grants from US State Department and USAID. Maira is currently working at the United Nations Secretariat in New York City. She is also currently leading a project in Uganda through a partnership with the Global Livingston Institute.
