About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Understand my place in this world

ABOUT ME

I'm a feminist, and a queer. I challenge assumptions and break boundaries.

PHILOSOPHY

Pessimism of the intellect, optimism of the will.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've hosted many people, from CS and outside CS. I've surfed a few couches in Italy, France, and Canada, plus been to a few CS community events in the places i've been.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed a few couches during my first trip to Italy in June 2009. I enjoyed it very much and always recommend CS to my friends thinking of travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:
I always have my headphones on, I have a very wide range of music, from Vivaldi, passing by The Beatles, Fairuz, Nina Simone, Um Kalthoum, and ending with Daft Punk, Cut Copy and the local band performing in the bar. Fairuz, Ziad Rahbani and Mayada Bseles have a special place in my heart.

I've been listening to a lot of podcasts recently. Radiolab, This American Life, On The Media, The Moth, Snap Judgement, etc...

Books:
I try to follow a pattern: one non-fiction book, followed by a fiction book, and alternate, until the day i die. My list of books if rather long, and i try to keep it as diverse as possible.

New Yorker Fiction Podcast gave me a newfound appreciation for short fiction. I'm enjoying Donald Barthelme, Jorge Luis Borges, Margret Atwood, Italo Calvino, and more.

Movies:
Princess Mononake, Spirited Away, Ponyo, (Obviously I have deep love for Hayao Miyazaki), Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Fantastic Mr Fox (again, deep love for Wes Anderson), Dead Poets Society, Waltz With Bashir, Juno, Motorcycle Diaries, Paradise Now, V for Vendetta, Scent of a Woman, Amelie, Happy Feet

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Watched sunrise and sunset near Palmyra in the Syrian desert.

Watched Beirut transition from day to night from Ain Saade mountain.

Fell in love while traveling.
