Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Hoping and trying to live and do such that my existence has made a contributive difference in the world after all.
ABOUT ME
Once an economist and a business man, I dreamt of making a fortune and to be a monetary success (a long time ago). After some years running an accounting agency being an economical advisor, I started to feel very discontent. I realized that the ones who could afford my advices were the people who needed them the least. I even thought that the best of my advices were those my clients wouldn't pay for. My discontent turned to sickness and I "ran away" on a sailing boat for almost half a year. Returning from the boat I continued my practice as an economist until I became aware of what was really wrong. Then I started studying again, but now completely different topics: History, history of ideas, philosophy and theatre. I'm currently writing on how time perception contribute to our understanding in fictional contexts. And my studying now is not about being a student in a conventional sense but has become more of a lifestyle.
PHILOSOPHY
Motto: I (try to) do what I like without exploiting anybody or anything, and for all the other necessary doings I try making them into things I like.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
By hosting and surfing somewhat. Looking forward to give our wonderful community a further helping hand in the future!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have had a lot of nice and strange dreams on all sorts of couches in different homes, mostly in a preplanned manner. I'm really looking forward to an "organized" CouchSurfe in a yet to be known home. ...
And now (09) I have had the most wonderful experiences in Warsaw, Rome, Palestrina, Prague, Lisbon...and yet many more to come!
Interests
Philosophy, people and art but not necessarily in that order. Besides, I like to travel of course and especially in a slow pace. Less than a year ago I joined a choir - "Gamle Oslo kro- og kirkekor" (GOKK) - and we are singing a wide range of material ranging from profane songs from the middle Ages, through Bellman's felicituos descriptions of dancing and drinking, to religiously engaged church music by for instance Bruckner. In September (08) we are heading for Warzaw in Poland, where we are giving two concerts. I'm looking forward to this trip very much, and maybe I'll meet some CS'ers while I'm in the Polish capital.

Music, Movies, and Books
Portishead, Dostojevskij, some jazz, KieÃâ¦Ãâºlowski, pieces of PÃÆärt and Nystedt, Dag Solstad and some of Jim Jarmusch's, Umberto Eco and Anderson's "Magnolia", falling in love with "Amelie" while "Lassoing Mrs. Luna" or reading about relationships through a part of John Irving, listening travels with BjÃÆörk or venturing universes with the Cohen-brothers, or "Do Make Say Think"... and many more
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sailing from Oslo to the Caribean and among the islands. Going by train from Oslo to China through Russia and Mongolia. Taking the ferry ("Hurtigruta") along the coast and fjords of Norway. Following in the footsteps described in an approx. 220 years old "travel guide" (Goethe's "Italienische Reise"). Oh, only one thing?
Teach, Learn, Share
I have some awareness of how to cook a good meal, how to sail a boat, how to touch upon the world with my thoughts and how to enjoy art. I take pleasure in listening and speaking, and together with anyone sharing these "idiosyncrasies" I would be grateful for both teaching and learning something.
