33 year old, half scottish - half german. Working for software company as a project leader. I really like the water and the city life. Hamburg is just the perfect mixture for that. It is big, but not huge. It is by the water, but not on the coast. The night life is great, the people are "northern" (some say reserved, others say cold, I don't know which is true, but I like them anyway).

I grew up in Germany for most of my life, but did spend a couple of Years Edinburgh, Scotland as a Teenager, finishing my school. I have also lived in the Netherlands, which I really like aswell. I was studying there, but coffeeshops...

我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

I would like to be able to go to other places. Not as a tourist, but to live there. But not for a year or so. Thats too long, I would have to give up my room and job. I like my room and job. I love my flatmates and I doubt I will be able to find a job similar tom mine quickly. I also don't want to travel a year abroad now, just so that I can come back and work until I go into pension and am frail. I want to go now, and in a couple of years time and when I'm forty and fifty and sixty. That is why I am on Couchsurfing, to be part of a comunity that want's to see the world.

兴趣

I play rugby, which I am not very good at. I make up the lack of skill with beeing a social glue to the team.

I also love sailing. Sadly I dream about it more often than I actually get the chance to do it...

Politics is my thing otherwise. I am involved locally and can always find a good discussion around that topic.

Even though the Beastie Boys are the greatest band that ever lived, I have to stress that I can find quality music in almost every genre, according to my mood and activity. Nice electro for dancing, which Hamburg is great for by the way. But good old rap when cleaning the house, stoner rock for driving the car, jazz while working... I just really don't like generic, chart crap.

Movies is similar. I do enjoy the artsy indy films that make you thing, but sometimes I need big boobed vampires in exploding carchases...

I hardly ever get round to finishing a book. I buy way more than I read.

When I was young I joined the Army and wen't to Afghanistan. I was sceptical about it then and have become a lot more pacifistic by now. But I wanted to know more about the reality there. I do feel that I was able to help people and do not regret doing it.
