About Me

Dutch, currently between chapters in life and using the space to figure out who I actually am. Turns out there was a lot to discover.

I love conversations that go somewhere unexpected - the ones where you start talking about your day and somehow end up discussing what makes life meaningful. I also enjoy good food, dancing until my legs give out, and the particular joy of wandering a new city with no plan.

I make things with my hands (leather, furniture, Lego), play saxophone badly but enthusiastically, and get unreasonably happy about finding the perfect spot to sit and watch people go by.

I'm curious about your life, your city, your weird local traditions. I'll probably ask too many questions. I'm good company for adventures, museums, street food expeditions, or just sitting somewhere interesting letting the world happen.

Open to: crashing on your couch, joining you for a drink, exploring together, or whatever else emerges. I travel light and try to leave places better than I found them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I discovered CouchSurfing over a decade ago and it completely changed how I travel. I've hosted in the Netherlands, surfed couches across South America, and joined countless meetups, dinners, and random adventures with people from everywhere.

What keeps me coming back: the connections. Staying with someone, sharing meals, hearing their stories - you end up experiencing a place in ways no guidebook could ever give you. Plus there's something magic about the trust involved - strangers opening their homes, and somehow it almost always works out beautifully.

Interests

Dancing is where I come alive. Ecstatic dance, freeform, occasionally a proper rave - there's something about moving to music with strangers that bypasses all the usual small talk and creates instant connection. If your city has a good dance scene, I want to know about it.

Beyond that: I build things (leather craft, furniture, the occasional Lego spaceship), play saxophone with more enthusiasm than skill, run tabletop RPG campaigns as dungeon master, and will happily spend an afternoon getting lost in a good museum or an unfamiliar neighborhood. I read a lot - mostly sci-fi - and I'm always curious what book changed your life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing the sun rise from mount Fuji was just amazing!

And taking a shower in treehouse at 50m above the floor with just some flimsy wooden panels between me and the ground and nothing between me and the jungle was both terrifying and exhilarating

Teach, Learn, Share

I would be happy to show you about woodworking and I can teach a class of improvisational theater as well.

Very curious on what you might share with me, I'm an information sponge!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good conversation and genuine curiosity about your life. I ask questions, I listen, and I'm happy to go deep or keep it light depending on the vibe.

I cook a pretty good meal if you let me loose in your kitchen.

Stories from a year of traveling South America, a work career that taught me a lot about how the world works, and a recent journey inward that's still unfolding.

And if you want to dance, I'm always in.
