About Me

CURRENT MISSION

There's always something new to explore!

ABOUT ME

I´m an easy going guy (give me a cup of tea (milk, no sugar) and I'm happy) who one day got buggered with my life. I chucked it all and went on a trip around the world. I started on April 4, 2009 and was gone for 20 months. I returned to Gothenburg in December 2010. Since then I have re-entered the society and is once again a law-abiding, tax paying citizen with a full-time job and a place to stay.

I very seldome read bloggs and travel stories; I want to come to new places with an open mind and not being influenced by others. This means that I'm often ignorant and sometimes miss great things, but that's ok, I have to save something for the future!

I love the movement when I travel, to be on my way to a new place, I've always been excited about what I'll find around the next corner.
To travel slowly, for example by trains and ships, is something I really enjoy.

Music is my oxygen; classical, pop, rock and Latin e.g. Bossa Nova, Tango, love it all, but not any angry music please!

I´d like to see myself as a positive person with some sense of humour and I don't take myself too serious.

I don't drink (I don't like the flavour) or smoke (anything). I am not a party or club person. Oooops, I guess I sound quite boring!

PHILOSOPHY

Current philosophy: I have so much that I can give something!
I'm a firm believer in that you regret what you didn´t do rather than what actually did!
I think that a portion of insanity is necessary to remain sane.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I think that CS is a great way for people to connect and get to know other cultures in a way that might be difficult if you visit a county on your own.

One of the best things with CS is that it feels like I already have a friend (or friends) when I come to a new place. I see and do things I wouldn't see or do, and I meet people I wouldn't meet if it wasn't for my local CS friend(s).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have surfed couches in Iran, India, Singapore, China, South Korea, USA, Canada, France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Germany. I've met fantastic people who showed me fantastic generosity and I've had great experiences. Thanks heaps to all of you, I probably have to donate a kidney to pay it back to the CS community!

Interests

Culture (music, sights etc.), food (I can cook to save my life), Movies, travel (of course) and meeting new people. I always enjoy a good conversation.

Music, Movies, and Books

Feel good movies, some drama and action. No horror movies.

I use books as chewing gum for my brain, I just want to have something to entertain myself with for the moment, I mainly read crime and thrillers.

Music is my oxygen, I can't live without music. Having said that, I'm not that sophisticated, I listen to whatever I enjoy. Some people say they have an eclectic mix on their MP3 players, I have a mish-mash!

I usually don't listen to lyrics and look at the singing as an extra instrument.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

During my trip, I bought a bicycle in HCMC and started to cycle back home to Sweden via China, Taiwan, Korea, USA, Canada and then Europe.

I have crossed USA and Canada on my bicycle (with a little bit of cheating, I travelled through South Dakota and parts of Minnesota in a friend's car). I left North America on Another container freighter.
After I had arrived in Felixstowe, England, I biked to Cambridge, London, Canterbury and Dover.
I took a ferry to the continent and biked from Dunkerque to Hamburg via Antwerpen, Rotterdam, Groningen and Bremen.

To sleep under the stars in the Rajasthani (India) desert during a camel safari, wow! A boat trip on Kerala's back Waters is up there too (in fact, it was so good that I went back and did it again!).
To cycle in Vietnam and hear the 'hellos' from the children in the villages and hear their laughs when I reply and wave back, priceless!

I have sailed over the Pacific- and Atlantic Ocean by container freighter and that's a truly spectacular experience!

All the great people I met on my trip, you are all amazing!

Countries I’ve Lived In
