About Me

Patchworked Wizzard
Wonder Afficionado
Pleasantly Surprised

I dislike the phrase 'social justice warrior,' but only because I dislike the framework of this mess as a war. Then again, if that's how the trolls see it - a useful perspective. War of the Trolls, is it? Lots of symbolism to that image - but we're going to have to define more roles to be effective. We'll need social justice healers and buffers to complement our tanks, and social justice rangers like the ACLU, to cut down that Troll offensive. Me? A social justice wizzard, I think...got a few buffs and a bit of utility, if I can figure out how to prep effectively. Still sorting out my stats, I suppose.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm here, in part, because I'm still not solvent enough to offer anyone a couch of my own. Which is what I signed up for in the first place, but...well, fine. I'm gonna go another direction on this one.

This place is an awesome experiment in trust, and charity, and community, you know? As such, I'm hoping to find some interest here in supporting my latest endeavor - I'm going to try to crowdsource a life of charity. I'm looking for couches in cities, for a stable enough pattern, to volunteer every day for shelters and kitchens, and whichever organizations I find a place with. If I can grow a strong enough network, I'd like to turn this into a patreon for supplies and donations. First things first, though, and a place to sleep is where I have to start.

Music, Movies, and Books

Amanda Palmer reminds me that we are bigger on the inside. Benny & Joon reminds me that we all break down sometimes. Tiffany Aching reminds me to watch the edges.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've listened to Night Vale while standing in a cold void, lit only by the shifting, pulsing Northern Lights. ...or at least, I do hope those were the Northern Lights.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Welp, depending on resources like time and money and tools available, I'm happy to bake with/for you! We can make buttermilk biscuits (update on the saffron/rose combination: it was delightful!), or maybe a cardamom pound cake with a little orange-spice glaze? (The pound cake still needs work.) My favorite thing, lately, is curried squash bread!

Other than that, my skills extend mostly to that one time I dodged 200 lightning bolts and unlocked Lulu's Onion Knight - doublecasting flares at 40000 a pop was hilarious fun! ...they didn't have Nerd under languages, but yeah, I speak that. ;D
