About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Saving up for the next trip

ABOUT ME

Above all, I'm friendly, tolerant, and pretty quiet. I like making friends with strangers, and once I get to know you a little better, I probably won't stop talking.

I'm independent - I like what I like, and I don't feel I have to copy others - unless I like what they like too.

PHILOSOPHY

I think its important to stand up for what you believe in, to protect the world for the next generation, and not just the environment.

I'd like to say - live every moment; get out there and do stuff, but I confess - I've had many a happy moment sitting back on a sofa/lying under a tree, being far from active.
I try to find a balance between an active life, and a satisfied, relaxed life. I'll let you know if I get there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've attended a fair few CS meet-ups in Southampton, Oxford, Krakow and Opole, which have been great for hearing interesting stories.
I haven't couchsurfed too much, but I'm looking forward to my next opportunity.

I'm not able to host at the moment, as I'm settling into a new home, but I plan to soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Had a great time couchsurfing in Northern Poland, including going straight to a party on arriving in Gdynia. Getting a tour around the Gdansk area was really cool.

Couchsurfing has also introduced my to my next housemate, a whole new adventure...

Interests

I have a pretty mixed range of interests!
I love learning languages and travelling.
I like listening to and playing music - especially blues, rock, folk, jazz and metal. I really want to expand on my meagre experience of live bands.
I'm not particularly sporty, but I enjoy kicking a ball around, playing basketball, and archery.
I devour books -

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: as mentioned above, I love them, especially magic realism, like Garcia Marquez, or Sanchez Pinol; decent fantasy books; historical fiction like Cornwell; humourous oddities like Bill Bryson and Dara O'Briain.

Movies: How to Steal A Million; The African Queen; Kick-Ass; Jurassic Park; Indiana Jones; Pirates of the Caribbean; The Great Escape; North by Northwest; 500 Days of Summer; Hot Fuzz; My Neighbour Totoro; should give a rough outline of my interests.

Music: Jeff Buckley, Queen, Audioslave, Jack Johnson, Owl City, Mano Negra, KT Tunstall, Steeleye Span, BB King, Free, Bruce Springsteen, U2, White Stripes, Rammstein, again an outline.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmmm... standing at the top of the Sau de Sallent, a 200m high torrent pouring over a cliff in Catalunya, gazing out over the baking hot forest stretching for miles into the distance.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach: Archaeology, history, English, some basics of other languages, runelore, some cooking

I want to learn: More languages, more cooking, more music.

Austria, Denmark, Italy, South Korea, Spain, United Kingdom, United States
