About Me

I am traveling through San Francisco and then on to Humboldt to do some farming for a family member. I'm very respectable and just looking to spread some love and positivity whenever I can. I have travelled a good amount and pretty much get along with anyone. It's important to make people feel comfortable and see them for who they really are, and those are the eyes I try to have on when interacting with the people I come across.

I'm a student at the moment and do many things: practice meditation, yoga, hike, kayak, read and travel. I am a musician, really into religion and philosophy, and very into activism.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm new to couchsurfing, and it seems so ideal for my traveling intentions! Meeting people and learning from them is one of the best parts about traveling. As I said I'm traveling through San Francisco and Humboldt County and I'm really excited to be here and explore. One of my friends talks about getting to know places through the beautiful people that are native, and I agree that it's the best and most authentic way to go. Way more exciting!

Interests

Learning. Explorin. Adventures.

The body. The speech. The mind. The soul.

Yoga. Meditation. Art. Music. Reading. Running. Hiking. Trails. Music is a huge part of my life (I play mainly drums and guitar) and I brought a ukelele along to share it along the way. We're both engaged in activism, especially environmental campaigns, and on gender/sexuality and race issues. We're also outdoorsy adventure people- we'll be camping and trekking during our time in Cali.

We've both been traveling for a few months now and took separate trips to Asia over the summer- I spent some time in Tibet and Hannah was backpacking for a few months in India. Neither of us have spent any time on the west coast so were really excited about it. Especially San Francisco with it's history and cultural happenings.

I'm studying Environmental Sciences (and unofficially, music) and Hannah is studying International Development and Environmental Studies, minoring in Gender & Sexuality Studies (and unofficially, yoga and Reiki).

Music, Movies, and Books

We both have a pretty exploratory attitude toward music, so we jive with most, but our home bases are jazz, funk, reggae, and jam bands (ella fitzgerald+bob marley+the grateful dead anyone?). All music is great, the jams go on!

Movies: Waking Life and Princess Mononoke (all of the Miyazaki movies are masterpieces), social/cultural documentaries

Pretty much Hindu/Buddhist spiritual books it seems...
Be Here Now by Ram Dass
Tibetan Book of the Dead
Yoga Sutra of Patanjali
The Art of Happiness by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama
Bhagavad Gita
Botany of Desire by Michael Pollan
Before I Am by Mooji
Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hannah and I practice a little bit of acro yoga, and can do a little salsa.

Teach, Learn, Share

May all beings be happy and free and may my thoughts, words, and actions contribute to that happiness and freedom for all.

Every person you meet is a messenger with a wicked story to share.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can share music, yoga, healing, meditation, and tons of great talks and good vibes.

Countries I’ve Visited

Aruba, China, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Ecuador, India, Israel, Jamaica, Spain
