ABOUT ME

It's not very easy to describe myself... People would probably say I'm a bit crazy because I'm always in for any adventure. Although I have to admit, lots of things just happen to me...I'm open-minded, got a good sense of humour xD, I love meeting people from all over the world and I'm very curious to hear about all kind of traveling experiences and recommendations. I like learning foreign languages as it seems to be one of the best ways to get in touch with people from other cultures.
In my spare time I play music, especially the piano and the drums, I like going for a walk, playing floorball, go rock climbing and hiking, playing tichu, chatting and playing social games (especially card games) with friends.
I'm a primary school teacher as I love to work with children. And I'm currently studying a master's degree in sustainable development (distance studies).
The more I travel the more I realise that it's not the places that make your travels an adventure but it's the people you meet!! And that's why I absolutely love CS!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I got to know some awesome guys through couchsurfing and had some great experiences! Some even became family more than just friends!

- I love music. In my freetime I play the piano, the drums and the saxophone.
- I like traveling other countries, to get in touch with different people from all parts of the world and to learn more about their culture, their languages and theirs lives.
- I am also a big fan of baking.
- I enjoy going for a walk or just having a little chat with people whether in the train or in the middle of nowhere.
- I like playing card games
- I love my profession! Working with children makes me happy. I am still realising that often it's not us that teach them, sometimes it's the other way around: It's them that teach us.

Wow...I don't know where to start...

I travelled around the world for 8 months: Europe, Qatar, China, Australia, New Zealand and South America.

I studied at a Teacher's Training College in Malawi (Africa) as the only European among 600 Malawians. During teaching practice I taught more than 120 children per class.

I slept in a tent in the desert in Chile where it was -10°.

I watched deliveries in a hospital in Tansania.

I was stuck on an island at the end of the world, in Puerto Williams, for days....

Some policemen from the border to Chile did my washing cause all my clothes were full of flees and there was no way to cross the lake to the border than waiting til the storm was over. It turned out that with us also our flees were stuck...and we were running out of food...

I was at a funeral in Madagascar named "the turning of the bones" with one of the ministers I met by pure chance. I was threatened with weapons because after having seen the sunset on the hill people from the village in Madagascar thought I wanted to steal the bones of their ancestors.

I fell down a waterfall (not on purpose of course!).

I must be holding the record in having accidents. I counted 1 to 2 accidents per year but I'm still alive.

I went on a motorbike tour in Turkey, took a walk in the volcanic scenery, climbed up the terraces of white carbonate and the rocks that looked like some kind of volcanos with built-in houses and I went to discover the underground city in Cappadocia. That was pretty amazing!

I went on a buskers street tour in Switzerland and across France: We made it down to the sea within a week and without any money, just playing in the streets which was absolutely great fun!

I went camping in the pouring rain on an island in hongkong with chinese people. I had to teach them how to pull up a tent cause for most of them it was their first time camping ;-)

I got robbed in south america in the middle of the street with all people watching.
