ABOUT ME
I am a Canadian living and teaching in Jakarta. I have been here for 9 years and know the town pretty well. I enjoy going out on the weekends, playing guitar, drinking, cooking, hockey and soccer. I'm pretty easy going and know lots of people around town. I also have many interesting expat neighbors.
PHILOSOPHY
Enjoy my life no matter what
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I hope to offer a place for travelers to crash and hope that people will do the same for me in my future travels. I would also like to meet interesting new people
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted quite a few people at my house and they have all been great! I have met some travelers and locals around town and hung out as well. It has been an amazing experience as I have met so many fun and interesting people.
A little note on why I am not verified. Couchsurfing has decided to give you a verified status if you give them $50. To me, this is a gigantic scam. All this means is that someone has a credit card with the same name that is on their profile. A credit card holder can still be thief or a sexual predator. In no way does being verified mean that it is safe to allow that person into your home. I feel that references are the true test of someone's character on Couchsurfing. I have enough references from people I have opened my home up to that prove I am who I say I am. If you think that me giving Couchsurfing money makes me legit then you are delusional.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have been to Komodo island, definitely worth checking out. One of the most amazing places I have ever been is probably the Grand Canyon. I know it is cliche but it is absolutely incredible.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you how to play guitar or a few words in Bahasa Indonesia.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can share my home as well as my knowledge of Jakarta and Indonesia. I love hanging out with surfers who come to visit Jakarta but if you are looking for someone to be your tour guide, I am probably not that person. I am more the person who will hang out with you when I get home from work and/or take you to a party or an event happening in Jakarta in the evening.
