Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I first heard about couchsurfing from an Australian I met in Madagascar in 2010 who couch surfed in Reunion. I thought it was a great idea and something I definitely want to be part of. I haven't had much of an opportunity to host people due to less than adequate living conditions, but I hope that now that I have at least a place for people to crash (still not ideal, but better than before) I can start hosting.
Interests
Preservation of indigenous culture.
Having real, honest conversations about different ideas and perspectives of international issues.
Gardening, cooking, the whole food process. I currently have an avocado tree, strawberry bush, sunflowers, tomatoes, and a bunch of herbs growing on my balcony.
Without denial, Africa.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Experience with the most impact on my life: While working in a very remote area in the mountains of Southeast Madagascar I approached the community with an idea to represent these people in 350's International Day of Climate Action. As a colleague and I stood among hundreds of villagers explaining our idea, a man asked us what caused climate change. Having to explain to people whose livelihoods have been directly impacted by the effects of climate change, that it is our actions in the west that are the reason their crops fail, the reason they no longer have enough to eat, was the most unforgettable experience of my life, for better or worse.
