About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be an inspired person. To inspire people. To have this magic in my life. To make a difference in people's lives through the things I know how to do - dance, cooking, conversation... whatever.

ABOUT ME

I'm a person of words, passion, music, dance... I appreciate good conversation, good food and good wine. I can't live without music. I spend a lot of time thinking about the various aspects and implications of living in this world... especially in this difficult region.

PHILOSOPHY

continued from the "all about you section"... I believe there's a way of making life liveable for everyone, if not downright good. I have a feeling that basic courtesy, respect and kindness can really change things for the better, if taken as a general life philosophy. Fear creates hatred, and thus we must be brave. Xenophobia, homophobia and just general ignorance are somehow understandable, but never acceptable. Human Stupidity is mistifying.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am new here. I would love to meet people who come to Tel Aviv, and make new friends everywhere I go. if you dance salsa - let's meet, let's go dancing. :)
Just in general, let's meet for a cup of coffee/tea/chai. I'd love to show you around this place. I'd love you to show me around where you are.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've spent the last week of May 2008 in Turin Italy and was amazed by the kindness and helpfulness of the people there. I mean, even when there was a language barrier, there was a genuine effort to help and the two guys who kindly hosted me (Ze Pipa and Alessandro C) were wonderful. Just goes to show, a city really boils down to the quality of the people, and I loved what I saw there. Wonderful time.
I've been to Istanbul in 2007 and 2008. Spent a weekend there for a Salsa Festival (20-23.6.08) and was kindly hosted by Bawer, a very nice guy who lives not far from the activity center. Thanks guys!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: World music, anywhere, any kind, anytime. Rock, funk, soul, blues, jazz, hip hop (intelligent, not 50 cents), house (deep soulful rousing tribal - just gimme the beat), classical, reggae and dub... anything that won't make my ears bleed or my brain melt. I'll give anything a chance.
Movies: foreign cinema, good action films, good comedy, martial arts, good animation. NO HORROR PLEASE!
Books: I keep going back to Marvin Harris's "Our Kind" which is an awesome anthropology book, Douglas Adams and his lovely wit, and just about anything that makes me laugh, and/or makes me think.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One amazing thing I've seen was the internet shrink the entire world into a capsule always at your reach. How much easier it is to see that no matter what our color, faith, language may be, we still have so much more in common than the sum of our differences. I still marvel at it.
One amazing thing I've done was foregoing most of my fears and opening up to people.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you need to learn how to dance salsa and other latin dances (not ballroom!), how to relate to the breaks and the feel of latin music... I would love to share my experience and knowledge. I also teach lady styling in salsa, teaching the ladies to be free with their bodies, move happily and forego the high heels (yes! use your whole foot! wear low heels)... and have both partners learn from each other in terms of movement. Salsa is a game, it's fun!
Also if you'd like to practice your English and/or Hebrew, feel free to write to me.
