Meeting new people and cultures, their outside and inside, their stories, hopes, fears and strengths, is always amazing - that's my experience during couchsurfing, hosting and hitchhiking.
From these encounters I have taken hope and confidence. I think courage is the right way to encounter new people - maybe you become friends with them?

contribute to housework and everyday expenses,
for example:
- treating the host to a good dinner,
- paying the bill at the store
- washing the dishes, or anything else...
The point is, it should make a difference for you, whether you host me or not. And I'm pretty sure it will.
