About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Traveling through Oaxaca and Puebla with my girlfriend; in Mexico to visit family in the Peace Corpse. Estamos yo y mi novia viajando por un mes, con el proposito de conocer buena gente y explorar los paisajes poco conocidos.

ABOUT ME

We are very easy-going people who love gardening, music, and building.
I enjoy cooking if i have the space, and sharing it leads to good conversation. We currently homestead in rural Washington State, caring for goats, geese, chickens, and an extensive garden.

PHILOSOPHY
A stranger is friend I haven't met.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Meeting new people is one of my greatest joys; each person has a story to tell and share. Breaking down social constructs and rethinking the way we interact is crucial to a healthy 21st century and environment. Couchsurfing is far more then a safe place to sleep, but a social experiment in the kindness of strangers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Spent a week on the island of Elba, Italy with a family from Couchsurfing! One of the best weeks of my life, fantastic food, big smiles.

while transitioning to Charlotte NC, I was fortunate to couchsurf with an amazing person for two months. While surfing her flat she had promised another couchsurfer her place but was leaving for the weekend. In order to uphold her agreement she asked if I would host the surfer. It was a unique experience in that a couch surfer hosted another couch surfer.

Interests

Recently I enjoy building things from garbage. I built a 100 square foot home on a trailer from 30% recycled material (photos can be seen here at gratitudebuilders.com ) . The goal was to build affordable houses from discarded construction materials. I just sold my first home and am onto the next one.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

About three years ago I moved from Bellingham Wa, to Charlotte Nc, to work as a high school math teacher in a high need African American school. The first year was mere survival. After pushing through three semesters I was finally able to develop a rhythm and connect with students.
Highlights-
Planting a unit circle fruit tree orchard
Building rocket heaters from clay, grass clippings and softball field turf
Developed a guitar club
