Hostels are great but locals are the BEST. I believe there is no better way to explore than to stay with/experience with locals. I'm new to CS but have used other forums or friends/references in the past. Sometimes it's about hanging out, other times it's about conversation and finding out about the other persons life, travels, interests... their story maybe.
