About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Keep learning and growing, follow my passion.

ABOUT ME

My ultimate dream is to open a photography foundation with scholarships for artists, community darkroom space and community galleries.

After spending a good 7 months in Europe, the majority of that time in Barcelona, I'm addicted to travel and can't wait for what's next. . .

However at the moment I'm settling back into life in Portland, getting used to rainy skies and quality coffee.

PHILOSOPHY

A nice mix of buddhism, practicality and moderation, the golden rule and a dash of epicurism.

Music, Movies, and Books

Just a few important ones: Anything Tom Robbins, The Alchemist and The Pilgrimage by Paulo Coelho, Eva Luna by Isabelle Allende, The Art of Happiness, Amelie, Life is Beautiful, It´s a Wonderful Life, The Princess and the Warrior, High Fidelity, Jeff Buckley, The Beatles

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Any time I get a glimpse of who someone really is, what they're really passionate about or just those wonderful open, honest moments, that is the best. I feel lucky that I have a few close friends that I have this experience with.

Seeing current Pres. Obama speak way back during the primaries. . . only had to camp out all night to do it.

Managing to get to Sete from Barcelona after I found out I couldn't redeem my original ticket. . . tears, very poor french, and ultimate triumph were involved. . .

A political rally turned protest in Graz, Austria. . . even though I couldn't understand what anyone was saying, the energy was palpable and it was hard not to get caught up.

A conga line of Austrians in traditional garb. . . I was minding my own business reading about art (ok, well, looking at pictures) in the library when they pulled me in. . . just one experience of the "Austrian magic."

Having a 4am conversation about God interupted by a beautifully surreal call to prayer in Morocco.

An apple vending machine in Ljubljana.

Sunrise on the playa.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you the basics of your SLR camera (definitely film, maybe digital). I can teach you at least one silly/punny joke. If you come to my HOMEtown (and second hometown) I'll show you where the good coffee is at. I can teach you how to spin a quarter on the table and stop it with one finger so that its standing straight up on end. I can teach you four chords on the guitar that can help you play probably about a million songs.

I'd like to learn more languages, Spanish, Catalan, maybe a little bit of French or German once I get those down. . . I'd like you to show me where the high quality espresso is pulled in Barcelona, preferably in Gracia if you can manage it. I'd like to know more about the history of photography, I'm always up to learn a new recipe, I'd like to learn how to change my own oil, even though I don't own a car right now. . . so maybe I'd like to learn how to fix my own bike.
