About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Mastering French and Spanish in between Micheladas

ABOUT ME

I am currently New York based, working toward my PhD and enjoying the graduate student life and taking advantage of the diversity of the city to improve my French, Spanish, and Portuguese. I do some writing on the side but nothing too serious at this point.

PHILOSOPHY

The harder you fall, the higher you bounce.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now, mostly looking to go for coffee or drinks! Maybe later I will be able to host people - New York apartments are small and filled with roommates, so it complicates things.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have stayed with a couple couch surfing hosts before - they were fantastic people and gave me a different experience of their home cities! I look forward to being able to host myself when I have the space.

Interests

I enjoy writing, literature, recklessly buying plane tickets to random countries, food, AIESEC, politics, theatre, hiking... and while I definitely can (and love to) party, I don't need to do it every night when I am travelling.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a literature student! The books I love are countless! But a few: A Handmaid's Tale and Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood, Disgrace by J. M. Coetzee, The Unbearable Lightness of Being and The Joke by Milan Kundera, God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy, Fire on the Mountain by Anita Desai, All the Pretty Horses by Cormac McCarthy. Just starting in on literature in French and Spanish.
Music-wise I like a wide variety of things, but I was raised on country and have a very special place in my heart for alternative rock.
For movies: Les Invasions Barbares, Trainspotting, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and I did have a strong obsession with Lord of the Rings
