About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Not sitting still.

ABOUT ME

Hey, I'm Mandie! I'm from Iowa originally, but have lived in Denver, Brazil, Spain and Amsterdam. Now I've finally settled (for a while, at least) in Seattle, Washington. I work as a legal assistant at an immigration law firm, defending immigrants who are in deportation proceedings. It is a tough job, but at the end of the day I really enjoy it. I love the Northwest and, though I'm probably not the best tour guide yet, I make an excellent adventure companion! I'm vegetarian, I like punk music, traveling and dogs - my baby, Maya, is a chocolate lab and rather ditzy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed and hosted in both the US and Europe! I love couchsurfing, as it is a great way to travel cheap and meet awesome people. In particular, I couchsurfed all the way along a bike trip I took from Amsterdam to Berlin, and people I met on couchsurfing showed us so much hospitality and also helped us to learn about local culture.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I first started couch surfing in Iquitos, Peru, and really appreciated getting to know people from the area more than I would have done staying in a hostel.

Since then, I've hosted in the US and Amsterdam. Surfers have been from US, Europe and South America.
