I'm Mandie. Wanderer. Blogger. Eleutheromaniac. Lover of wine & nonsense. Reformed marketing & social media strategist who kissed off corporate America and is now traveling out of her comfort zone & into adventure! I'm a professional travel blogger at www.ramblingmandie.com & freelance writer/web designer, so beware - you might end up getting an article written about you. :)

I started my first long-term backpacking trip at the beginning of May in Ireland. Recently I spent 5 weeks in the beautiful Greek islands and now I'm looking to CS my way through Belgrade, Sarajevo, Dubrovnik, Split, Zagreb, Trieste, Venice & London!

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that there is an underlying current of energy that connects us all despite cultural and economic differences. I believe in dreaming big & taking chances. I also believe that rules were made to be broken & gelato is an acceptable breakfast.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I have only surfed, but I've met some awesome new friends and had great experiences. Once I get back to the US I definitely want to pay it forward and host! :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, so good! I've surfed in Ireland, Greece & Serbia & all have been positive experiences. I was really nervous at first, being a solo female traveler, but (knock on wood) have not met anyone creepy or wanting to hit on me yet. :)

Intereses

I enjoy writing, reading, art, graphic design, photography, cooking, kayaing, hiking, boating, camping (pretty much anything that lets me be out in nature). I love animals, especially horses. I will never say to no to sharing a bottle of wine and life stories.

The most amazing thing I've done so far is driving across the country (US) with someone I had only met a few weeks prior. We navigated the nation's largest corn maze in Kansas, met a 2-headed cow in Missouri, waded in the Colorado River in Colorado (cold!!), climbed rock formations in Utah, and saw the sun rise over the Grand Canyon in Arizona. We ended up finding a room to rent in Las Vegas, Nevada where we worked as cocktail waitresses for about 10 months before heading back home.

Skills I could teach or share: web design & management, entrepreneur or small business marketing, living anywhere on a tight budget, and relationship advice. I have worked as a trail guide, horseback riding instructor/stable manager, bartender, veterinary assistant, cater waiter, copywriter, graphic designer, and strawberry picker, to name a few.

Skills I'd like to learn: rehabilitating wild animals, Asian cooking, and paddle-boarding.
