About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Bring peace wherever I go! World peace may be a little far fetched, but if I can bring peace to one person's world, I will die happy.
ABOUT ME
I grew up in a small town in southern Georgia. I guess you could say I am southern born and bred. I love everything about the south...from "y'all" to the slow way of walking down the street. While my origins are local, my goal is to ultimately be global. I love camping, running, and hiking. Anything that will guarantee some time outside in the sunshine and I am there! Travel affords all of these loves! I did not begin my traveling adventures until my Junior year of college. But I jumped in with both feet and I have been hooked ever since. My goal is to visit every continent and live there for at least two months (ok, except for maybe Antarctica. I'm not much for cold). Then, I will revisit every continent and run a race. In between these travels, I will run races here in the States, maybe get a job as an adoption agent, and camp, camp, camp.
PHILOSOPHY
And you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
This is my maiden journey as a couch surfer. I am trying it out on the recommendation of a friend. She traveled through Europe earlier this summer by couchsurfing and I'm excited to try it out for myself.
Interests
Books, books, and more books! I am an avid reader. In fact, if I can put off anything by reading, I will. I love reading the classics. Books that are still alive and resonate with my spirit.
I also love being outside. I am content to sit and soak up the sunshine, or go for a long run. Camping is always fun. I could sit and stare into a fire for hours!
My degree is in Counseling Psychology and this informs a lot of my interests. I enjoy meeting and making new friends. I am energized by hearing people's stories and learning what makes them tick. If I can have the chance to bring some peace to someone's life, then I will consider my time well-spent. I can sit and people watch and analyze their actions for hours. Of course, my "professional" opinions are probably far off but its fun to imagine!

Music, Movies, and Books
I honestly don't spend much time watching movies or listening to music. But I like all kind of music. Reggae, jazz, classical, "coffee house", country, soundtracks.
My real passion is reading. I will read anything that is well-written and captures my imagination. Books that have been life-changing for me include: INSIDE AFGHANISTAN by John Weaver; THE WHITE MASAI by Corinne Hofmann; JANE EYRE by Charlotte Bronte; COUNT OF MONTE CRISTO by Alexandre Dumas. This list could go on and on. But these have been some faithful friends to me. Books I could read again and again.
Most recently, I read THE INNOCENTS ABROAD by Mark Twain. I read this in preparation for my journey to Europe this summer. Such a great book! Currently I am reading MOTHER WITHOUT A MASK by Patricia Holton. According to THE TIMES, its a "deeply sympathetic evaluation of a culture".
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have had the opportunity to do some wonderful things. Of course, I'm pretty easy to please. Anything involving good company makes me happy. But I think a memory I will treasure forever is waking up on the Serengeti after camping and watching the sun-rise shine on safari balloons launching their tours. Truly spectacular. Someday, I will go back and take a ride on one of those balloons.
