About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to set foot on every continent. Yes, even Antarctica.

ABOUT ME

Ummm
well first off, I joined this because I signed up with International Student Volunteers to work on a conservation project and I've been assigned to go to Australia, and my friend Clare told me about this so I thought what the hell?

There's a lot of stuff I want to see/experience in this world, but the main factor holding me back is money. It is SOOOOOO expensive. And especially the tourist-y places. That's what I like about this site: I can get a native person's help navigating foreign places.

So about me:

I genuinely like who I am. And I'm not afraid to share my experiences and innermost feelings with other people. Ask me anything and everything. If you're willing to know, I am willing to share.

I'm pretty quirky and yes, weird, and I love it.
I love banter. I will take a topic and just run with it.

I am a genuinely nice person. I don't think it is ever okay to make fun of someone or be mean. I was picked on a lot as a child, so I know how it feels to be hurt, and no one deserves to feel that way. I will always be the first to defend someone because I remember wishing that someone would be brave enough to defend me.

Having said that, I'm not going to lie, I LOOOVE politically incorrect humour. I think it's important that we can laugh at ourselves, and poke fun at ethnicity, nationality, culture, etc. It's usually just banter, and I really love when people can play along and not get offended. But if I ever upset or offend you, I am truly truly sorry.

I am opinionated and unafraid to speak up. I am always willing to listen to others opinions, but I hate political debates because people always get angry or offended. And I'm not stubborn-- you're just not doing a good enough job convincing me. ;)

I love music. I play the guitar and I sing, and I love being onstage and entertaining people. I'm the person that you see driving down the road singing to the radio.
I've also dabbled in acting. I'm currently a theatre major at school, but I'm not sure if it's something I really want to pursue. I love improvisation games though!

I am a BIG animal lover. Honestly, I don't understand how people can NOT like animals. I seriously have to question a person who says they don't care about other living creatures. Honestly, there's something inhuman about that.

I'll let you know right now that I cuss like a motherf***ing sailor! But it's all in fun and shock value. I'm totally aware of when I'm cussing and I can turn it on and off, so if you are offended by bad words I can refrain. Especially when there are children around.

If there is one thing I hate, it is shallowness. I think MTV is the antichrist, as is Starbucks and Abercrombie & Fitch.

Oi, this is taking a long time. There's no possible way I can fit everything I am in here. The best way to get to know me is by talking to or hanging out with me.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a firm believer that people create their own drama. You can't control what happens to you, but you can control how you react to it.

I live by the Golden Rule: "Do unto others what you would do unto you." I know what it's like to be hurt and I never want to make anyone else feel that way.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had much surfing or hosting experience. I've only ever gone on vacation with my family.
But I'm excited to get out on my own and you know, be scrapping to get by, sleeping under a bridge, hitching rides with truckers (but not really.)

Interests

I'm interested in pretty much everything.
History, astronomy, animals, music, mythology, art, religion, foreign cultures, language, books... like I said, everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

I quote movies/tv shows all the frikkin time. If I say something that seems slightly out of context, its because it is: its probably from a movie. Or a song.
I grew up on a lot of old movies from Hollywood's Golden Age. I love Hitchcock and Disney. I love movies that make you think. I like comedies that are witty funny and not just fart jokes funny.
I couldn't possibly list all the movies or actors I like...

Tv Shows: I like Spongebob (99-04. after that it just went downhill), Simpsons, Seinfeld, Family Guy (the first 3 seasons are the best), Flight of the Conchords, Three Stooges (I guess that'd be more along the lines of film shorts...), FRASIER!!!! (seen EVERY episode!), The Soup...
I watch a lot of educational tv, mostly animal planet, discovery channel, history channel, and truTV.

I love music. My forte is rock/alternative music, but I appreciate all kinds. I can usually identify a song within a few bars of music.
Give me any song from the last 20 years and I will name that shit within a year of its release.

I grew up listening to a lot of Beach Boys, Buddy Holly, Lesley Gore, Bing Crosby, Gene Pitney, Frank Sinatra, Four Seasons, Sam Cooke, rock n' roll, big band music, doo wop, and disco. My parents are from that era. Then I began to listen to the modern stuff on the radio and was lucky enough to have two older brothers to introduce me to the post-parental music (80's to now). I've always loved music, especially discovering awesome new stuff.
I'd like to consider myself somewhat of an authority on music, but I still have a lot to learn.

There are waaaay to many bands or songs that I like so it would be impossible to list them all without forgetting something.
Oh, and the Beatles are sooo overrated. Yeah, I said it. Wanna fight about it?

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I saw a human pyramid once. It was completely unnecessary.

I've been to the Louvre. That was awesome. There are all sorts of ancient artifacts and famous pieces of art that have been around for centuries. So worth it.

I've been inside a medieval castle in Switzerland. It's beautiful. You think the walls are covered in intricate wall paper? Nope. It's painted. By hand. In the twelfth century.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've always been a nerd, and I love it.

I love history. I could definitely share my knowledge of American history with you. History is not just a bunch of dates and people. History is the interaction and relation of choices, actions, and events with each other and how those events shaped our world both in positively and negatively, and laid the foundation for our past, present, and future.

I definitely would like to change people's perceptions of Americans or at least enlighten them.

I really enjoy music history! Especially taking my knowledge of world history and seeing how the exchange of instruments between cultures has influenced and produced a unique sound to that area of the world.

I'd like to think that I know quite a bit, yet I know very little. The truth is that of the vast amount of knowledge in the world, I will only ever be able to learn a small fraction of it. But what I do know, I would love to share with you.

I love learning, so please teach me something!!! I would love to learn about your culture and history and country. Tell me everything you know!
