Overview
About Me
I was born in Poland, spent many years in Ukraine, but currently I live and study in Turkey. Therefore I get quite confused when people ask me the basic "Where are you from?" question. In Turkish I'd just answer "Dünyalıyım" - I'm from the Earth :) I consider myself to be a world citizen. I have been to 38 countries and hope to visit many more.
I work as a freelance translator and at the same time I study Turkish here in Diyarbakır. Hopefully I'm going to start my master's degree in sociology next year, but first I need to improve my Turkish skills :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I believe that meeting local people and learning about their culture is much more important than just visiting some places. With the use of modern technologies we can "visit" almost any place in the world without leaving our house, but we can't experience the human interaction and hospitality. In fact, I'm quite a shy person and I often feel anxious before meeting new people, but my couchsurfing experiences have always been lovely. I have met some wonderful friends this way and, with some of them, we keep in touch even 10 years after our first meeting.
