About Me

CURRENT MISSION

A midwest/midsouth road trip adventure: Chicago (IL), St. Louis (MO), Louisville (KY), Flat Rock & Asheville (NC), Nashville (TN), Cincinnati (OH)...and? In May I depart for Fiji, where I'll be leading service/adventure programs for high school students over the summer.

ABOUT ME
I've been out of the travel/Couchsurf circuit for a bit and can't wait to get back at it. Most recently I worked in Detroit on an urban farm and at a vegan bakery/coffee shop. I love the city but love love getting outside of it and exploring new places even more.

Some fun facts:
..lived in a traditional yurt for 2 years while serving as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Mongolia. It was coooold in the winter but oh so beautiful.
..led teams of international volunteers to build homes for families in need with Habitat for Humanity in: Colombia, Costa Rica, Armenia, Cambodia, Mongolia, and South Africa.
..spent six months training full-time at a zen Buddhist temple, suffice it to say I have even more questions about life, religion and people.
..received my 200-hour yoga certification in Lake Atitlan, Guatemala. Let's groove.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music.. Love all kinds of music from Sam Cooke to Nahko & Medicine for the People to a new hate-turned-love of country. Never saw it coming. Recently saw Amasa Hines live, had never heard of them, and they were incredible.

Movies.. I can get down on pretty much anything except horror. And sci-fi. You might lose me with sci-fi, but I'll try my best. :) Old school Marilyn Monroe, Cary Grant and the like have always been long-time favorites. Like music and books, it depends mostly on mood.

Books.. The Alchemist, Siddhartha and The Prophet are beloved favorites. Most recently finished The Color of Water, a beautiful memoir and reflection written by a black man about his white immigrant mother. Always happy to receive reading suggestions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Running a half-marathon in the Gobi Desert, Mongolia was for sure one of the hardest but most amazing things I have ever done.
