About Me

I’m looking to find new friends, laugh, and enjoy the open space and great lifestyle of Perth, including the many bars/pubs/cafes. My family moved from Perth to Sydney when I was very young, and I've spent most of my life in Sydney and Melbourne. I recently returned to my home town to start fresh and rediscover my original home.

I'm a thinker... I like books, conversation, music, laughter, wine, cheese, food, markets, singing, crosswords, regular exercise, movies, plays, and genuine people. I'm lucky to have many such people in my life :).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

A couple of memorable CS experiences...

Doing the Hike of 6,500 steps in Fleix, Valencia with a multicultural bunch of 14 couch surfers. Such a special and memorable experience!

Also went to a house party in Valencia. Despite being one of the few who didn't speak Spanish, I felt included, had an absolutely hilarious night, which was perfectly topped off by accidentally hailing a police car instead of a cab...

Music, Movies, and Books

The Intouchables, Samba, The Belier Family, Gran Torino, Bridget Jones and Bridget Jones's Baby, The Power of One, The Element, Love Actually (because it makes me laugh and cry), How to be Single, Horrible Bosses I and II, and pretty much anything with Jason Bateman, Jennifer Aniston or Ryan Gosling.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spending a day with a Mozambican on my first overseas trip. His English was great, but challenging when having philosophical conversations, which provided lots of laughs. What was most incredrible was to make a real connection with someone from such a different culture. By the end of the day, we'd discovered similar views on life, music, and the same dry sense if humour.

Such a small thing, but discovering the challenge of the language barrier when trying to buy an apple in Luxembourg. I just wanted to pay, but the guy kept gesturing to me. Turns out the lovely thing was offering to wash it for me.

Discovering how much fun you can have with an awesome bunch of people, even when you speak a different language.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you how to knit and play a few guitar chords. I have many other skills, but I'm not sure that teaching them would be much fun... lol!
