About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To enjoy life and meet good friends along the way

ABOUT ME

I'm a happy person, laid back and I've always loved travelling, going to new places, meeting new people and experiencing a different way of life. About a year or so ago, Eric and I decided to give up our regular jobs, sell the house and just go for it. We had a massive clear out, gave most things away, paring everything down to a few treasured possessions, which friends and family are looking after. We then bought our tickets - and just went. It's just been amazing.

PHILOSOPHY

To be good, be kind and live life to the full - it's not a rehearsal!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Whoa!! I love the ethos behind Couchsurfing, but it's all too new to me to say more at this point.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None as yet - but I do have a story. I first heard about couch surfing through my daughter, Lis, who set off on her travels to the Far East, starting in Thailand. A long way from home, alone and on her first adventure, she emailed me to tell me about the great time she'd had through couch surfing. I thought it great that people from all over the world were able to connect with each other and share experiences!

Interests

Exploring, writing, family history, food - cooking it as well as eating it. I don't each much meat, so am almost a vegetarian and I like vegan food, too.

Music, Movies, and Books

Anything and everything

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's hard to beat Bako National park in Sarawak, Borneo. It spans seven different eco-systems - Cliff vegetation, Kerangas or heath Forest, Mangrove Forest, Mixed Dipterocarp Forest, Padang or Grasslands Vegetation, Peat Swamp Forest - and Beach vegetation. The beach is pristine, the jungle home to wild boar and proboscus monkey, lizards and snakes - and beetles the size of your fist.

A close second has been helping to build our house - 5 years in the making!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a dyslexia specialist, there's dyslexia in my family, which is how I got interested. It's all about developing strategies and discovering strengths you never knew you had. I know about dyspraxia, too.
I've also trained as an English Language teacher.
And I know about tortoises - all the info you need to look after them - I loves tortoises.
I've got 2 left feet, and am all fingers and thumbs, so if anyone could teach me how to dance - or even knit - it would be good!
