About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Right now, it would be to write myself a mission!

ABOUT ME

I haven't been CouchSurfing very actively in this form, but have been hosting and surfing my way around the planet without quite realising it. I am a community support and advocacy worker in Brisbane, Australia, a place I have called home for over 6 years now, which also makes it the longest place I've called home (since high school at least). Hmm...what else? sunny days are happy days! Would go to the beach all summer and snowboard all winter if I could - but I love (and, no doubt, need) my job too much!

PHILOSOPHY

We are all connected. Really!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I originally started out hosting via this site, but moved into a different place shortly afterwards and am no longer able to host. I share my current home with a very dear friend, two cats, two chickens and a fledgling herb garden. For now, I am looking to participate as a surfer.

Interests

Yoga, circus, Capoeira, languages, ethics, human rights, social movements, human psychology, human rights, environmental rights, social sciences, chaos and complexity - all of these things fascinate me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Currently reading: Error Australis by Ben Pobjie.
Currently listening to: Passenger (I think a self-titled album? I would have to check though...)
Movie? Hunt for the Wilderpeople for big belly laughs!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sunsets are pretty amazing things and we get a chance to catch one every day of our lives. Being able to find the extraordinary in the ordinary is pretty amazing and the times I remember to do that have been pretty special.

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH - Can teach Mandarin (I am studying this as well) and Cantonese.
LEARN - would give anything a go, but since we're on the topic of languages, I'd welcome the opportunity to get back to learning Japanese, Spanish or Portuguese.
SHARE - conversations, music, stories, adventures, dreams.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A creative kitchen cook-up! Summery salads or winter bakes...whatever the season offers. Also love to exchange new discoveries - books, music, podcasts, ideas, recipes, writers. When it comes to non-fiction, I lean more toward books about community development, activism, philosophy, anthropology and, broadly speaking, topics that explore the ways we understand and engage with the world around us.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Cambodia, China, Colombia, Cuba, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Mongolia, New Zealand, Peru, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
