About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Travelling as much of the world as I possibly can! :)
ABOUT ME
I'm a loyal, giving and honest person. I love people and I love travelling and encouraging others to travel too! People are my passion! :)
PHILOSOPHY
I believe you have the power to control parts of your life and your experiences. There is so much more to people if everyone was willing to open up and try to expand their friendship groups :)
Also I believe in the sayings "Travel is the only thing you buy that makes you richer" and “The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page.”
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My husband and I normally surf together and we have hosted over 17 surfers and happy to host more when we can :)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Being a couchsurfer and a host requires you to have one main thing =RESPECT
When we surf we try to offer our time & stories, general help, cooking meals, paying for small things like a morning coffee or shouting our host at least one meal or drink when we go out together to thank them, be domesticated washing the bedding/towels or at least fold it neatly if there is no time before we end our stay, clean up after we cook, leave a small gift when we can & generally be as pleasant & non-intrusive as possible.
Couch surfing to me, means valuing the person you are staying with whether you are the host or the surfer and in turn usually the outcome is a positive exchange and experience and essentially the result is gaining knowledge & trust from each other.
When I surf, I like to send requests to only people who I feel I will learn from, have fun with, share stories & be comfortable with and hope as hosts our guests will also choose us for similar reasons.
I have also invited a small handful of surfers who haven't even sent us a personal request who I find interesting and feel would share our values.
We are very giving people & look forward to hearing from people who have similar interests and/or values as us and would like to get to know us personally & sincerely.
I found this great article :) it is a must read! And really helped me learn what couchsurfing is really about when I first joined :)

Interests
I graduated from my Photojournalism degree a few years ago and have a small business in photography on weekends as well as work in my office job during the weekdays. As a photographer, I am always looking at the beauty in the world and trying to capture it wherever possible. After doing some photojournalism trips with my university in countries such as Cambodia, Vietnam and China over the years, I have met, interviewed and taken photos of such beautiful people and their lives. From the nightlife and all the glitz and glamour in these countries to the poorest of poor and disadvantaged.
I have a very professional side of me, however I have another side that is also very easy going, fun and sociable and like to have a dance! I organise what I call "funday fridays" with my close group of friends a few times a month to make sure we can still catch up for dinner and a drink, despite our busy lives!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The few things that I will always remember in my life :-
1) Arriving at the Great Wall of China and seeing how incredible and long it really is!
2) Visiting the orphanages & dump schools in Cambodia and seeing despite everything that they can still remain smiling
3) Viewing the smallest volcano in the world in Tagaytay, Philippines. The view from the mountain across from the volcano took my breathe away!
4) Completing Tough Mudder 17km obstacle course in the Sunshine Coast, Australia this year! Even though I was athletic growing up, I'm pretty unfit these days and was so happy that I pushed myself to sign up and complete it! It was an awesome experience
5) The sunset in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil from the sugar loaf mountain and the view from the Christ Redeemer on my 30th birthday. Amazing :)
Teach, Learn, Share
"Life rarely turns out exactly the way you want it to, but you still have an opportunity to make it great. You have to do what you can, with what you have, exactly where you are. It wont always be easy, but it will be worth it in the end. Remember that there is no perfect life, just perfect moments. And it's these moments you must cherish; it's these moments that make the whole journey worthwhile."
- Ritu Ghatourey
