About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Wander around and see whatever I can of this pretty world of ours.

ABOUT ME

I'm your typical traveler, looking to have fun experiences with whoever is willing to share them with me. I like to think that I'm nice, that I can be fun to talk with, that I'm good for any crazy idea that's thrown at me, but I guess those are all for you to decide, right?

I'm also relatively clean, so that's a plus.

PHILOSOPHY

The best way to make the world peaceful is for everyone to see each other as people, and so I couchsurf— there's no better way for two complete strangers from different cultures to understand each other than to meet up, talk, and have a good time.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'll try to talk up my position as a traveler so that it makes me sound less like the mooch that I am. I participate in couchsurfing by being active with my hosts—I think of couchsurfing as a cultural exchange, and so I try to share my culture with the host if they want (perhaps by making you American style pancakes?), and I'm also willing to go along with whatever someone suggests.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Some of my best experiences have been through couchsurfing. I love seeing a new place through a local person's eyes. I remember jumping off bridges into the river Aare with my hosts in Bern, hanging out in a rooftop bar with my host in Hamburg, playing board games that I'd never seen before at my host's place outside Saigon. I've been around the block, and I'd like to keep going around that block.

Interests

When I'm alone, writing, thinking, and music are hugely important to me, and constitute a large portion of my personality. When I'm with others, I love a good conversation and a fun time, whether that take the form of a lively political debate, or a crazy party night at some underground discotheque.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books are a transient experience for me, for the most part; I read them, ponder a bit, and move on to the next. However, I can definitely think of some movies and books that I keep coming back to. For music, I love Belle & Sebastian, Beirut, Andrew Bird, Crystal Castles, David Bowie, and various Lo-Fi Hiphop. For movies/TV Series, I like The Lord of the Rings series, Cowboy Bebop, all of Hiyao Miyazaki's work, 28 Days Later, Apocalypse Now, Breaking Bad.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There are so many things... I think one of the most amazing things I've done was sitting on the top of a temple in Bagan, Myanmar, watching the sun rise over the thousands of gleaming orange temple tops.

Teach, Learn, Share

I don't know if I can teach too much, but if you want to learn something American, I can teach you how to make good American eggs and pancakes! I could also teach you some English if you're not great at it, although I'm not too great in any language but English (but my French is very slowly improving...).
